presentation of the GSF 1200 BANDIT 2006
the Bandit celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2006. The perfect opportunity for a makeover. And since the youngest member of the family has already been through it recently, it's a good idea to steal her new clothes (in any case, that's how it's been since the family was born). The GSF wears the same outfit as the 650, with a restyled forkhead for the S version and a small headlight cowling for the Naked. The rest of the aesthetic evolutions are also from the same mould: scoops on the side of the frame above the engine, new 2-piece seat and new side covers behind the carburetor manifold. To distinguish the 1200 from the 650, just take a look at the side covers, which are chromed on the 12. The Tokico brake calipers have changed from 6 to 4 pistons, the fork is slightly different and the exhaust is no longer fixed by 3 large screws as on the previous model (a pity; you could change the muffler with just a few screwdriver strokes). Let's hope that Hamamatsu's engine-makers have taken a closer look at the carburetors and restored some of the 4-cylinder's big character. Filled and torquey, the big air- and oil-cooled mill had lost some of its big mouth when the Bandit was upgraded in 2001. the 650 did just fine, so there's no reason why the B12 should be any different. Following Suzuki's pricing policy, the GSF 1200 is offered as the most affordable big roadster on the market.
test ride :
a big roadster always has that intimidating quality that comes with rank. A little something that provokes this kind of phrase from the timid: "Ouhla! It's too big for me; I'll never be able to stand it...". Before you judge, sit down on the new B12. A little can go a long way. A narrower frame at seat level, a slimmer, height-adjustable saddle, a 3 cm shorter fuel tank - it's not much in absolute terms, but it allows a lot of people to put their feet up on the tarmac. "I'm not tall enough" is no longer an excuse.
you're still sitting naturally and serenely on the Bandit, now a little closer to the controls and a hair less comfortable - the seat offers a little less. The Suzuki's powerful blast is predisposed to take you far and wide, provided you can stand the air pressure on your helmet. In the S version, the semi fairing protects your chest, but not above shoulder level. A pity - the high bubble option is recommended if you ride far and often.

One of the great advantages of the B12's chassis is its natural efficiency, which imposes no operating instructions. Easy, carefree and stable, the Suz is perfectly suited to its status as a big, very homogeneous bike. Only the suspension is a little lacking - it performs its task adequately, but a little less firmness would be appreciated.
With its good turning radius and great agility, it's not afraid of the city. But that doesn't mean it's going to go head-to-head with the new generation of street-fighters. Suzuki is sure to have something in store for us, as is the case with its 600 range: the Bandit for everyone, the GSR for those who like their bikes a little more serious.

In terms of protection, it does a good job of protecting the legs and chest, but a little less so the head, and even with a high bubble, I find that it brakes better, and no longer has that sensation of soft brakes lacking bite that we had with the previous version. It's a bike made for everything, the city, the open road, alone or in pairs. It's timeless, reliable, and I'll never tire of it! PS: this is my 3rd bandit 1200... the next one will surely be the 1250 "S" with fuel injection and 6-speed gearbox Rating : 5/5 Respond to stef

Top speed is a bit limited (240km/h), but for me it's more than enough.

After an old Goldwing gl 1000 from 79,the acquisition of a gsf 1200 is a real treat.I bought this used bike from 2006 from a suzuki dealer a year ago.Entirely satisfied with this bike, I nevertheless have a small problem. From one day to the next a cylinder "misfires" below 2500/t.A mechanic, after calling suzuki told me that I had come across a bad series with a recurring valve pb.Even after adjustment, the pb persists. The only slight criticism I'd be tempted to make is that the gearbox lacks speed. Fuel consumption is 6L on the road between 130 and 150 and 7L in town
In short, I don't regret buying this machine. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Leduc
lacks a higher bubble for protection

I had an old 12 from 1999 N and to change a little, I ordered the last one and there..
Passenger not so good because of vibrations in the footpegs and rear handle, engine calmer, doesn't lift inopportunely..
On the other hand, there's nothing to say about the riding experience so far: from the very first kilometers, you're on the edge of your seat without realizing it, whether the road is rough or not, the bike feels reassuring as soon as you get the hang of it (it's no longer a truck to maneuver, even in town), the brakes have good bite but run out of steam when you're riding hard.the passenger no longer lies on his back when braking, and is delighted to be better seated than on the 1999 model, the damping is drier but more effective in my opinion, the digital instrumentation is easy to read day and night, and there's no longer a fuel tap. Finally, for smaller riders, no problem, the bandit is very low and has a 20 mm adjustable seat, also adjustable on the brake and clutch levers
Here's hoping it works as long as the other one..............Bye and all the best! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Jacky87
All in all, a really great bike, and a good-looking one at that! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Beauseigne
In any case, it looks sharper and more aggressive than the 2005! The rear end is much sharper and deserves a nice wheel arch right from the start. My dream would be to fit it with a DEVIL carbon high line! The class, and the melodious sound, I can't tell you! Little retro carbon parts, crankcase guards, handlebar ends, and gold-annodized bolts on the crankcase? And aviation hoses, because of the four pistons instead of the 6 on the 2005! And Michelin pilot power tires, a 190 at the rear, for show (original 180) WAOUUU Can't wait for its release! And long live the 1200 Bandit (Naked in blue, naturally)!

an all-new bandit Rating : 5/5 Respond to motomaniac
It's back with a new look, but it's the weight gain that's the real change, as here and there you'll find plastic all over the place; the pointed rear adds a sportier look, and the brake light has a nice design
I think the changes have been a success, and you'll be able to tell it apart from its little B650 sister by the eye-catching mirrors!
Long live this bike, which I adore!
