presentation of the Tiger 900 GT 2024
Before going any further, bear in mind that this model is not available in France. Given the demand, Triumph has decided to offer only the Pro versions of the Tiger 900. People prefer the best-equipped versions, in a hotly contested sector. The trail wars have never been so fierce. This applies equally to the big, heavy-duty battleships and the mid-size armada. The Tiger 900 GT's desire to occupy a prime position in this category made it hard for it to withstand the vigorous competition. That's why it has been given a significant performance boost, with a much more muscular engine.
With more displacement? Tempting, but Triumph preferred to optimize the 888 cm3 three-cylinder. With an increased compression ratio, new pistons and camshafts, and a revised intake, power output takes a big leap forward. Up 13%! That translates into 13 more horsepower, or 108 units. That's starting to sound like a lot of power, even if you'll need more revs to get it. Power peaks at 9500 rpm.
Torque is also climbing, albeit more timidly. 1/3 of a mkg is always a bonus. But above all, its maximum speed is available earlier, at 6850 rpm instead of 7250 rpm.
The English beast is stronger, and paradoxically more economical. The manufacturer has announced fuel savings of up to 9%. Its range will be all the happier for it, and should approach 400 km. This leaves plenty of time to appreciate its tubular steel trellis frame and fully adjustable Marzocchi suspension. Triumph has retained the chassis of theold 900, as have the sporty Brembo Stylema 4-piston calipers. They bite 320 mm discs, with a bonus added in 2024: braking is coupled with the rear, so that the front, cornering ABS and 255 mm piston-heated rear disc work in concert and stability. And if you brake (too) hard, the warning lights come on.
Like its predecessor, the 900 Tiger has an off-road cousin called Rally. This gives it plenty of room to adopt a more road-going stance. Hence the 19- and 17-inch wheels and reduced suspension travel (for a trail bike) of 180 mm at the front and 170 mm at the rear. A little more comfort answers the call of the new generation, with a redesigned seat (still adjustable by 20 mm, but 1 cm higher) and handlebars mounted on silent-blocks. The windscreen retains its 5 cm of adjustment.
This GT confirms its name, just like its predecessor. Enthusiasts will quickly rediscover the company's identity. As much as the Tiger's design evolved spectacularly when it went from the 800 XR / XC to the 900, the changes are much lighter for the 900 phase 2. The sides have been slightly redesigned, as have the fork-head arches; the silencer has been redesigned; the micro engine cowling has disappeared; and a protuberance has appeared at the base of the fuel tank - in short, a minor refresh without a break in style.

The bag also includes a USB-C socket on the dashboard, which theold Tiger already had. A 12V socket under the seat, 4 riding modes (Road - Rain - Sport - Off-Road), traction control, cruise control and heated grips.
Visibility is also enhanced by turn signals that stay on all the time, like Honda and American cars. All lighting is LED. As usual, the finish is above reproach.
Breaking through the 95 hp ceiling, the 900 Tiger GT opens up a much more alert and vigorous realm. Finely upgraded, it claims one of the best positions in its segment. It also knows how to charge a premium price for its rather rich equipment. This new-found power is aimed at an already seasoned rider. This is one of the reasons why the Tiger can no longer be bridled in A2 trim.
The Pro version comes with a good slice of extra equipment: heated seats, shifter, electronic rear shock adjustment, customizable Ride Mode, backlit controls, center stand, and a few other extras.
