presentation of the 1200 Speedmaster Icon Edition 2025
When it comes to riding, it's hard to imagine anything other than a trail-GT these days. There are so many in the Triumph range, so many everywhere, that it's almost impossible to choose.
But there are so many different definitions of riding. For example, when it comes to quiet cruising in style and with a West Coast feel, the English brand has a choice piece in the Speedmaster.
Its beautifully presented twin-cylinder engine, its very present torque, its morning sensations of England and Californian sunshine, its polished finish and relaxed riding position invite you to reach for the horizon and put on your sunglasses.
And what else does this Icon Edition offer?
Elegance, my dear. That is, another dose of elegance. The members of this 2025 collection have chosen to revive one of the brand's old logos. The decorator has to delicately place it by hand on the tank.
Unlike most of the other "Icons", the Speedmaster does not feature gold edging. It does, however, give much more space to "aluminum gray", which makes it more "illuminated" than the other members, and puts the emblem of yesteryear into sharper focus. A sapphire-black stripe runs across the tank to an "Icon Edition" stamp.
An adornment that the Speedmaster will not present until 2025. Triumph's collections (Icon, Stealth, Chrome, Gold Line) only last a year. A tasteful achievement, likely to be appreciated with subtlety or restraint.
This Bonneville-Cruiser is an opportunity to appreciate the 1200 High Torque, but also a very low seat height, spoked wheels, 78 hp and 106 Nm, disconnectable traction control, two riding modes, cruise control and a beautiful design. Too bad the speedometer lacks the charm of a Thruxton or T 120, and passenger comfort is relative.
