presentation of the 800 BONNEVILLE 2005

Retro lines right down to the chrome, two-tone paintwork and an engine that looks like it's come out of the 60s, the Bonneville plays the revival card to the hilt, just like the Kawasaki W 650. Difficult to access, the ignition key is hidden under the left-hand blinker. Starter the carburetor, press the starter and the twin-cylinder purrs. Dual overhead camshafts and super-square dimensions (bore greater than piston stroke) eliminate vibrations. Smooth and torquey, the engine is pleasant without being impressive. The gearbox, despite a rather short first gear, and the clutch contribute to the overall smoothness. Surprisingly quiet operation for a twin with 360° revs. Only the whistling of the valve train shocks the ears.

So the Bonnie prefers a leisurely ride to the long haul on the freeway. The plumage matches the ramage. The 205 kg dry weight is easy to handle and forgiving of clumsiness. Handling is good and handling reassuring. Like the engine, the chassis doesn't like to be rushed. The poorly padded/hard seat and rear shocks lacking in travel, spoiling comfort. Braking is in keeping with the bike's quiet spirit. The Bonneville isn't the Bonnie we'd hoped for, but it proves a faithful companion for Sunday rides.

French céline Model 2004
Hello, after 2 guzzis, 1 gold 1500, 1 zzr 1100, 1 deauville, 1 vfr 800, (very heterogeneous choices, by feel) I've just bought a 2004 T100 with 9800 kms, and I'm delighted with it. it blows me away with its torque, pick-up, road holding, weight distribution and looks.
Comfort is fine, the shocks have been changed, as have the triumph off-road pots, and the seat is original. I'd like to fit leather panniers, but the price is high, so I'm waiting to find some second-hand.
The negative points, ultra throttle, bike cools down very quickly so after a stop, put the choke back on; average braking, water and mud splashes on the pants, jacket, it's true that I ride all year round.
Céline from Loiret.
