presentation of the 865 AMERICA 2011
in Triumph's cruiser range, the America was the first British model of the revival to adopt a very American look. Since then, the Rocket III and Thunderbird have broadened the horizon. As a result, the America became the smallest, least expensive and most accessible of Hinckley's custom bikes. A few changes have been made for 2011, to freshen it up a little (it has only evolved mechanically since its release in 2001).
ergonomically, the rider sits lower, as the seat drops to 690 mm. The handlebars are set further back, and the controls have been moved forward for a cooler riding position. The front rim is reduced from 18" to 16", and a wider tire is fitted. The bike is given a bold new look with a new headlamp, a shell-shaped speedometer unit, extended mirrors and turn signals that move from the handlebars to the forks. Unaffected by the diplomatic V-Twin, the America (like the Speedmaster and Thunderbird) entrusts its dynamic performance to a parallel twin. Here, as in the previous generation, we find the 865 cm3 and its 61 horsepower. Same engine, same weight... The only change to the ride is the new profile of the front rim. As for pricing, it remains under 9,000 euros...

After more than 40 years of motorcycling, I'm no longer interested in power or horsepower
I love the america and have found a new riding style
However, I don't find it very responsive compared to another 2012 model I tried out
I have a short pot that makes a nice noise. Do you have a simple technique for modifying the power? Rating : 5/5 Respond to pierre

1-the front forks and/or front suspension make a "cloc cloc" noise when passing over small road irregularities (potholes, damaged asphalt, ...)
2-the engine, when hot, makes a rattling chain-like noise)
3- gear changes are not progressive, but jerky, unless you're playing with the clutch? Rating : 1/5 Respond to Terry
