presentation of the 900 THUNDERBIRD 1996
triumph's roadster range boasts a fine offering. The Thunderbird 900, with its deliciously retro charm, is a credit to its family, which includes no less than 4 other machines in the segment. There's an S version of the Thunderbird, the Legend TT, theAdventurer, and in a sportier, more characterful vein, the Speed Triple. With its low seat height, well-presented engine, beautiful chrome and sausage-style exhausts, this bike is a real dog, transporting us back to the heyday of British motorcycles. But today, mechanical worries have vanished. The 3-cylinder engine has been tuned to deliver just the right amount of low-end torque. Power may seem fair for a 900, but that's not how the T-bird is judged. Its charm is distilled without the need for hustle. Sitting cool, riding cool to enjoy the English touch. Comfort is a little disappointing, thanks to the rear shock absorber. It has too little travel. The turning radius could be improved for city escapades. The chassis copes very well with the engine's capabilities. The machine brakes smoothly and handles the road with sufficient confidence.

On the other hand, overhauls (essential for reliability: pellets) are expensive, and repairs hurt on a model that's already 15 years old. Rating : 5/5 Respond to borc
