presentation of the Tiger 900 Rally Pro 2020

The Tiger 900 is five ways of seeing the trail, five versions to choose your route, five profiles to live the experience from the day to the trails. After the basic model, followed by the GT, GT Pro and Rally, here's the most adventurous variant: the Rally Pro.

It would seem that obstacles are less valiant in the face of this Triumph. And superfluous too. For this machine has been packed with equipment since the Tiger Rally from which it is derived. A Pro suffix to put both boots on the same job.

With its more mischievous look than the 800, this Tiger has a definite appeal. Even to the point of provoking hesitation when it comes to exploiting it for what it is? Can you get a little nervous about trashing a beautiful bike when you get stuck in a rut? Relax! It's taken care of that by attaching an aluminum shoe and a pair of crash bars to its belly. Enough to protect the 3-cylinder and limit breakage. Too bad you have to reach the highest level of finish in this house to get these protections. The 800 XCs were more generous.

the Rally Pro also allows you to smile at the surprises. With it, you can plan for camping. A pair of fog lamps, a center stand, heated saddles, sensors to monitor tire pressure and there you have it, the crew ready for all sorts of outings; extended, unannounced and enhanced by the vagaries of the weather.
The key to premium is to load up the pack to the point of making it a showcase. Hence the addition of an Up&Down shifter, backlit commodos, Off-Road Pro riding mode and "My Triumph" connectivity. More on that later. First, let's take a few lines to take stock of everything this Tiger 900 Rally Pro has to offer. I'll highlight in bold what's been added since the Rally Pro:

- New tubular steel trellis frame with removable rear frame.
- 3-cylinder block with new engine ignition order ( 1-3-2 ), more torque (from 8.1 to 8.9 mkg), more character, A2 compatible and unchanged power (95 hp).
- New swingarm.
- Adjustable footrests.
- Weight down to 201 kilos (- 7 kgs since the 800 XCA).
- Larger 20-liter fuel tank (+1 L).
- Hand guards.
- Engine mount.
- Engine protection bars.
- Center stand.
- Seat height adjustable to 850 or 870 mm (+ 10 mm since 800 XCA).
- Brembo Stylema brakes and 320 mm discs.
- Increased front/rear suspension travel: 230 mm / 225 mm (+50 mm / + 55 mm vs. std, GT and GT Pro) - (+10 mm / + 10 mm vs. 800 XCA).
- Showa fork and shock absorber in place of the 800 XC's WP.
- Fully adjustable 45 mm upside-down forks.
- Shock absorber adjustable for preload and rebound.
- Tubeless spoked wheels.
- Full LED lighting.
- Signature daytime running lights.
- Fog lights.
- 7-inch TFT color display
- Up&Down shifter.
- Heated grips and saddles.
- IMU inertial unit.
- Traction control.
- Cornering ABS.
- Cruise control.
- Tire pressure monitoring system.
- My Triumph connectivity system via Bluetooth.
- Backlit commodos.
- 12 V socket.
- + 5 kilos.
- Under-seat glovebox for telephone with USB socket.
- A wide range of riding modes ( Road - Rain - Sport - Rider / customizable - Off-Road - Off-Road Pro ).

the Rally Pro is the model with the most driving modes, and the only one with 6. Mindful of the fact that this model is aimed at adventurers with a bit of experience, its Off-Road Pro mode makes the most of human technique. It deactivates ABS and traction control and switches the mapping to "Off-Road"

Ah, I should tell you a little more about "My Triumph" connectivity. With the Bluetooth module grafted onto the Tiger plus the app installed on a smartphone, electronic interaction is reinforced. From the handlebars, the rider can manage phone calls, be informed of messages, pilot music, control a GoPro and enjoy simplified step-by-step navigation.

The 900 Tiger Rally Pro is so well equipped, there's not much you can fit inside it. However, it lacks the essentials for long-distance travel. Suitcases and a backpack. It's a hefty price to pay, but it's the best you'll find in this family. The question is: do we need all that? It depends on where you're going.

I ride a Tiger rally pro 2023 and I've done 7000km with it in all weathers (I live in Brittany) and I find this machine to be extremely reliable and comfortable. Definitely one of the best trail bikes out there. Rating : 5/5
