presentation of the 900 Street Twin EC1 2022
Among its many 2022 special editions, the Street Twin EC1 has a status of its own: it's the only one with a reference to a place. In the gray of London, the East End brings a breath of culture and color quite the opposite of the gray of this Triumph.
"Greys "would be more accurate. The main feature of the EC1 is its two-tone color chart. Icy rock gray for the side covers, aluminum gray for the mudguards; the duo meets on the tank and shares it with the Triumph name and crest. Not the standard Morden Classics, but the more modern, triangular version.
This dress, a limited release for this year only... that's all that sets this EC1 apart from the standard Street Twin - the most popular model in the family. So, same performance, same chassis, same 65 hp, 8.2 mkg twin-cylinder, same electronics with two riding modes - ABS - disengageable traction control - USB port, no accessories offered and an extension of six greenbacks to own it. More euros will be needed to obtain the matching windscreen.
The acronym EC1 will speak more to the English than to us. It's a zip code for an area in East London. It's home to a number of iconic places: the City (business district), Clerkenwell (London's Little Italy), Shoreditch, the Chater-Lea manufacturer, Old Street, ... and a strong motorcycle, pop and creative culture.
Triumph likes to celebrate key characters and picturesque locations within its range. The Bonneville and Thruxton models have become more famous than their namesake cities. The special series are more intimate. With the exception of the Newchurch, the few variations concerned were essentially references to the Ace Café or the Tourist Trophy.
