presentation of the Tracer 9 GT+ 2025
The new Tracer 9 GT+ isn't just the most exclusive Tracer ever; it's also the most technologically advanced Yamaha on the road. Forget the R1, which is now only allowed on the racetrack. A crossover that has become the Touring spearhead of the range, with an astonishing abundance of equipment.
A GT+ costs 50% more than a basic Tracer 9. But does it offer as much in terms of practicality, comfort and technology? Is it emotionally quantifiable? If we can't answer the last question, let's find out about the others.
A + loaded with equipment
Let's start by listing what the GT+ offers in addition to the standard and GT models.
- Tire pressure monitoring
- Reinforced DID chain
- Hill-start assist
- Radar system. It enables the adaptive cruise control (ACC) to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front. 4 distance levels are selectable.
- ACC also sends information to the suspension to make the chassis more stable when braking, or to the gas pedal to calm it down when overtaking and the indicator is active.
- Radar systems also detect blind spots. A small symbol in the rearview mirror warns you of a vehicle in the area. You can also turn your head to check.
- Unified braking, which optimizes braking force between front and rear and is already present on the GT, is linked to the radar. If you don't brake hard enough to avoid a collision, the bike will automatically increase the braking force.
- Backlit controls.
- And the Y-AMT semi-robotized gearbox system (optional on other models).
With this technology, Yam' "grafts" a technical unit onto the engine to obtain an automated transmission. The selector and clutch lever are eliminated. As a result, the rider can :
- Shift gears manually with a set of controls on the left-hand commodo
- Or opt for two-stage automatic management. D mode shifts the gearbox quietly and smoothly; D+ is sportier, and holds gears longer.

The Y-AMT is not a gearbox like Honda's Dual Cluth, but a technical addition to an existing gearbox. This gives it greater modularity. As proof, it is already available as an option on the MT-07 and MT-09. It could soon be added to other models.
Tracer models already well-stocked
The Tracer 9 GT+ is therefore amply equipped with power assistants. Now that we've seen its specific features, let's take a look at what it borrows from the GT:
- A Smart Key system to turn on the ignition, unlock the steering, fuel tank, suitcases and, incidentally, a top-case, without needing the key.
- Matrix headlamps, adjusting light level and beam thanks to special headlamps and an integrated camera.
- 30-liter suitcases.
- Higher-quality saddles.
- A subscription to Garmin's Motorize app, for an always-available GPS navigator.
- Kayaba semi-active suspensions. The KADS automatically adjusts the damping according to inertial unit data and to the selected Modes - dynamic and firm with Sport, or comfort-oriented with Street and Rain.
- Electrically adjustable windshield with 10 cm of windshield travel.
- Heated grips.
- Smartphone connectivity.
That's two generous baskets. These are added to the Tracer 9's original equipment. A very vaguely trail-oriented tourer, the 2025 revision takes it even further towards long-distance touring. Its CP3 3-cylinder engine is up to the task, with its typical purr, its enchanting behavior since its debut and its 119 horsepower still available.
The on-board electronics allow the rider to choose from 5 driving modes to motivate him or her. Three are factory-programmed, for quick selection of a Sport, Street or Rain character, and two are configurable. You can set power delivery (PWR), traction control intervention (TCS), wheeling permissiveness (LIF), slip control (SCS), damping laws (SUS), braking regulation (BC) and shifter intervention (QS).
Fortunately, there's a big screen to take care of all that. Yamaha has removed (hooray) the dual-screen display from the old Tracer 9 and GT, and installed a 7-inch panel on all versions, as on the previous GT+. Three display themes are available.

The new version of the Tracer gets Spinforged wheels, lighter and more agile, as well as specific Bridgtestone T32 shoes. Life on board is enhanced by a small glovebox with USB socket, a longer rear frame to provide more space for the crew, revised ergonomics, a redesigned fairing for greater protection, and enhanced night vision thanks to cornering lights on all models.
With so much equipment, you can imagine that the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ will put a dent in your bank account. Not far off the price ofan R1, and much more than the 2024 version. a difference of 2,000 euros, which includes lightened rims, robotized gearbox, keyless entry system, additional riding mode and matrix headlights. The bike also has to accept 9 kilos more (232 kg fully loaded) and a seat height increased from 820 / 835 mm to 845 / 860 mm.

kADS: This semi-active system is integrated into the bike's electronics and automatically adjusts damping using real-time data detected by the six-axis IMU, such as lean angle, load, acceleration, amplitude and speed of suspension travel, offering sporty riding without compromising comfort.
