presentation of the XJ 600 Diversion N et S 2001

the 600 diversion has spanned a decade, watching its evolution with an amused smile. Built around a classic tubular steel frame and powered by a quiet, air-cooled 4-cylinder engine, the XJ can be ridden anywhere and is accessible to the widest possible audience. It may be criticized for its high fuel consumption, mediocre gearbox or lack of torque, but these are minor complaints compared to what it offers. First and foremost, its low price and road-going performance, especially in the S version, where travel can be envisaged with peace of mind. The wide, plush seat is a joy to ride, as is the suspension - providing excellent comfort for passenger and rider alike. Accessible to all, supple and at ease in town, the XJ isn't very playful (it doesn't pretend to be), but can handle any task. Handling is good, as is braking, which is one of only two modifications the diversion has undergone in its lifetime: the adoption of a second brake disc in 1998, and an increase in fork size from 38 to 41 mm. You want me to tell you: it's a good friend, and has been a best-seller for over 10 years.

After a big crash with my gsxr in 2008, it was hard to get back on a bike. In 2020, I bought a 2003 xj600n with 20000kms for 1100€, the perfect utility bike to get from point A to point B. Fortunately, it doesn't go too fast, because the speed demon comes back very quickly, despite my apprehension.
Even though I'm able to get a lot out of it, I'm having a lot of fun and the 600 engine with its 61hp limits and reassures me. On the other hand, in a duo, it's a bit tight if you're a bit heavy and the tires are a bit narrow. Practical, with its adjustable shock absorber, 125cc insurance and reasonable weight, I can't get enough of it, and it's very affordable to customize. Everyone should have one at the back of the garage.

Hello. I picked up a '96 XJ600N to replace a '91 CBR600. So yes, the engine is rather sluggish in raw comparison. But in fact, as the bike is more inviting for leisurely cruising, the lack of power is paradoxically less annoying.
With its air cooling, the engine still has its charm.
It's comfortable, and easily handles a duo, at least for shrimps like us (I'm the fatso of the house at 65 kg).
It's impressively easy to use. Supple, light, easy to handle, low seat height, very good road holding and braking, etc...
For the record, I found it at 800â'¬ for 51,000 km, fully serviced and in truly impeccable condition.
It's a bike I'd really recommend for anyone wanting to start or get back into motorcycling. It will also delight any experienced biker who wants an economical bike for Sunday rides

French Jeannot61 Model 2000
I've had a 2000 XJN for just over a year now. Although it's not very powerful, the engine is very smooth, even in 6th gear, and comfort is top-notch. It can even carry two people without any problem, despite its average displacement. It's also a superb bike for relearning to ride after a fairly long period without a real motorcycle. Currently just over 41,000km and no problems. I recommend it for those who want to enjoy themselves without spending too much, including on insurance! Rating : 5/5

Admittedly, it's not a "bomb", but there's enough power to have fun.
To ride simply, without worrying too much about the current repression. In short, just to have fun.
Slight vibrations tarnish the picture.

After a 17-year hiatus, I'm back "riding" a 600 XJN...
Before that, I read everything I could on the subject to make sure I wasn't wrong (thank you Internet and "test" articles...). I had a biker friend try it out... etc... etc... Then there was the apprehension, the stage fright: "Am I going to know? am I going to fall off? In short, a few hundred km later, I'm thrilled !!!! not too high, comfortable saddle, easy handling, docile, SHE'S THE MACHINE to have if you're just starting out and/or starting over... I don't regret my purchase!
Happy trails to all...

I got my license at the beginning of August and a week later I was already on my 2002 div XJN with a race bubble. A super-simple model to ride. A bubble is essential for the road: Rennes Paris at a speed of 6 is okay, but without a bubble, you're using up all your fuel and it's not very pleasant.
It goes everywhere and the passenger seat is quite comfortable (not me). OK, it's a bit pushy and it's true that the gears are super-fast, but I really think I've made a good choice as a starter
In any case, if anyone is still hesitating, we can only encourage them to take the plunge. Just be careful of the speed..

I have a '99 Div N with 147,000 km on the clock, all year round
It's aged well, with a few minor problems: oxidation of the electrical connector under the seat, front caliper seals, culbus cover seals, timing chain and now the mufflers, which break at this mileage. It's normal, doesn't eat tires, front between 48,000 and 52,000 km, rear 24,000 to 28,000 km in BT45 and Macadam 50
engine vibration between 3,500 and 5,000 rpm, gearbox is reliable without stalling..... in short, it's a good machine
It's my first Japanese, since 1968, and I'm not disappointed. The only downside is the price of spare parts
i'm thinking of replacing it with .......another Div

quite a few things (battery, turn signal center, 2 HT coils + 2 spark plugs, ....)

Hi there,
I bought a duv as my 2nd bike (after 1 ER5), and I'm delighted! A quiet bike, ideal for a duo and that swallows the km without flinching (S version with backrest topcase for Madam)
A small correction to the description: the reservoir is only 17 liters (enough to pass the reserve at around 240 km and go up to 300 km without a second visit to the pump, at cruising speed)
Bonne route à tous.

French Riko Model 2003
My first motorcycle, a 600xjn, sliced my ass up to largely unbelievable speeds with its 4-in-1 design. It consumes a reasonable 5.5min to 10l in ultra-sporty driving (as a student, it's a pain in the ass), but given its performance, I'd do at least double that in a car. I've done quite a bit of duo driving with my 85kg brother, and the acceleration is just about right, but I'm never satisfied. However, on my own, I don't know how long it takes to get from 0 to 100, but I do know that no car has ever been able to eat me up at start-up (Porsche and others...) (not on the freeway, of course... we agree). It's true that it doesn't take curves above 160km/h under pain of ferocious weaving, where you just have to cut the throttle and everything returns to normal, and it's not wrong to enter a curve at over 180, but you have to cut the throttle and everything goes smoothly. Apart from this detail, the handling is exemplary, with 2.5bar at the rear and the rear shock absorber hardened to death. My rear tires had a hard time holding up over 8mkm, but to each his own (and yet I didn't make runs at every stoplight, as I now live in the countryside). I loved my div, only regret: with its cylinder head gasket leaking (I got it like that and did more than 20mkm like that) I always had to have a dirty futte or I'd definitely dirty clean ones. For the wheel it's tricky, it's heavy, but with experience it's easy to do (I didn't get to that level, but it was coming along). I recommend it to all beginners, it can keep up with the bandits and other sv650s except on freeways. voilà!!! Rating : 5/5

I'm a young biker, I bought a 600 XJN and I'm delighted with it!!! I've had a 34hp div for 1.5 years now, and as far as the mechanics are concerned, nothing to say (apart from the cold start), the chassis is fine for cruising, but less so when you start winding. The fateful point is the 34hp engine, which, for me, is appalling. The lack of power and torque even becomes dangerous, and long trips feel more like an epic than anything else. I can't wait to put it back in full. Rating : 5/5
French Bernard Model 2003
I bought this 1995 div' a year ago, for €2500. Just a battery replaced at the start and that's it. I'm 52, had 10 years and 200,000 km of all-weather driving on big bikes in the seventies, then a 25-year hiatus (work and family activities taking over), but the virus reawakened. Already owning two cars, I didn't want to blow my budget. I do all the maintenance myself. For good roadholding, fit Pilot Activ front and rear suspension; it changes the bike's behavior completely. The lighting is a little inadequate for my taste: fit an H4 100/80 W bulb with relays - it's not type-approved, but at least it lights up dark places. I really like the dashboard, which is a bit old-fashioned and not in the "Star Wars" style; it's easy to read; it's just a shame that it lacks a clock and indicator lights for charging and oil pressure
In terms of performance, with a four-in-one, I'm still getting over 200 miles to the gallon.

I've had a motorbike licence for 2 years and 25,000 miles on my div'. it's beautiful (without its ugly flashers), comfortable for me and my girlfriend, super easy to handle in town, torquey enough to get out of the way of cars after a red light and to get a feel for things, it's forgiving of small mistakes.it's simple and pretty much sound...sometimes its ass is chasing, but that's not a problem, because you get used to it, it's very, very sensitive to side winds, especially when accompanied or with a topcase!
And the gearbox....le vice de yam il parait...des points morts partout, des points dure qui évoluent). But hey, I've grown attached to it and it's got enough hp to blow up my license! The div is great value for money!!!!

I bought my 600 div second-hand. It works like a charm, but the swingarm broke for no reason (I'm riding pepere) at the shock absorber (I managed to avoid crashing myself and my passenger...phew). So I'm looking for a used one, and all the smashers I've called (ile de france) tell me it's the "disease" of diversion: basically, I'm not the only one. It's not as solid as they say...I'm really pissed off. Rating : 5/5

A motorcyclist since 1976, I'm now on my second Diversion (85,000 km in all). With two front discs and a high bubble, I'm a happy rider.
If the breather leaks (a classic Div' "fault"), just plug the hose that goes up into the airbox
Super economical, I'm having trouble finding a replacement for it. Aside from a little shaky handling when driving fast, I can't find any fault with it. Just great! I use it every day, all year round.

Hi everyone, my 600 div is 95, no mechanical problems. It's not a super nippy bike, but you don't buy a div for speed and playing cake. A very good tourer, 400 km separated by a short break and not even a pain in the legs or buttocks. And all for 2000 euros. Makes you think. Bye Rating : 5/5
French superskoof Model 2003
Ouaich little bike really pepere!
Footrest always in place, when it's not the center stand (which I've done away with, fed up...)
Economy: 10/10
Around 70,000Kms (no more odometer, optimistic wheeling = salto...) and not a bit of play!
If you're looking for solid performance, go for it!

French Fravic Model 2003
I have the same profile as "Narnar"
economical and roadworthy. Very good comfort and braking
The 50 tarmac mount is a bit light and handicaps handling when you're looking for the limit. I sold it for a more powerful bike and I regret it today
Ideal for touring and city riding.

i got my license in may 2004, and i chose the 600div with fork head, great for a first hand, great torque, great braking, great handling for a 48kg chick. i then added the lower fairing, it looked like a 900div finally i just sold it for a 600 fazer, it's not the same thing it's more nervous..lol don't hesitate if you have the opportunity to buy a 600 div s as a 1st bike go ahead.... bye cathy Rating : 5/5
French Richard Model 2003
A great machine, always ready to go in any weather (50,000 kms in 6 years), a treat for rider and passenger (with high bubble on freeways) and fuel consumption of 6 liters in town. Very easy to handle, stable and pleasant. Too bad Yamaha didn't renew the genre... Rating : 5/5
Super this machine ratio quality / performance / price I have a 600 xjn of 2000 superb...... Rating : 5/5
French Nanar Model 2003
I'm 51 years old and have had my licence for 35 years. I've just started riding again after 24 years. I first wanted to buy a 750 or a 1000. By chance I saw this ad for a 600 diversion in a local paper, and I thought why not; given the speed limits! And that's just what I needed. Anyway, there's already a way to get your license nicked, so take it easy on the throttle. It's light, maneuverable, brakes well (even with a single front disc), and handles well on the road, balancing nicely in a series of bends. What's more, this brave "utilitarian" easily tops the 200-meter mark. Last but not least, it costs less in tires, fuel consumption (4.5l/100) and insurance than a larger-displacement model. See you soon on the road! Rating : 5/5
French pouf1 Model 2003
An excellent bike for beginners: smooth engine, not too powerful, very good braking on the 2-disc versions, easy to handle at low speeds (a little heavy at standstill), and inexpensive to maintain (serviced every 10,000 hours on the latest versions). With the S version, you can drive with peace of mind on the freeway. Rating : 5/5
French Jean-Louis Model 2003
I've owned this machine for six years and have 42,000 km on the clock. I've ridden it in all weathers, since I lived in Finistère for a few years, and the only problem I've had is with the breather (the oil was backing up into the oil filter). As for the rest, I'm delighted with an average fuel consumption of 5 L/100 KM. Ideal for a first machine. Unfortunately, Yam withdrew it from sale without finding a replacement with the same quality/price ratio. What a shame! Rating : 5/5
French Steph Model 2003
My machine has 77,000 kms on the clock, and still no worries despite being driven in all weathers. It's true that it's not a thunderbolt, but it's an eco-spout when that's not all you have in life. Rating : 5/5
French pierre Model 2003
its many qualities and easy-going nature are major assets in everyday use. On the road, it allows you to maintain good averages in very acceptable and appreciable comfort; not a sporty machine, yes! But smoothly and efficiently, please Rating : 5/5
French Gold-orak Model 2003
As everyone knows, this machine isn't a thunderbolt. Used as a school bike, it's nothing special, but it is sturdy, puncture-proof and hard-working. The engine is linear, doesn't push much, but is very adequate for beginners. Beware, however, that this beast is quite heavy. The only downside is the 130 rear tires! A little light, and the original 50 macadams. Rating : 5/5
