yamaha's roadster range welcomes a special edition of the FZ8. With its striking name, the FZ8 Red Line conveys a sportier temperament. Which is only logical, given that it's an SP-R version in black with a wide red stripe. The SP-R kit includes a Lazer exhaust system and Öhlins shock absorber, making the roadster even sportier and more rigorous. The package also includes an engine cover, a plate holder, FZ1 radiator scoops and protective pads.

to become Red Line, Yamaha adds a set of stickers (what? no paint?) running from bow to stern. If the look is more racing, we'd expect more from a special series than a set of stickers. Priced at 500 euros more than a standard FZ8, the Red Line clearly makes an effort on the price, given the SP-R equipment installed.

This little-known model was released somewhat hastily and had a brief existence, as it was rather poorly placed between two successful models: the FZ6, which it replaced in 2010, and the MT09, which succeeded it in 2013.
But in the segment below the FZ1, another successful model!
The FZ8's main raison d'être at the time was to compete with the Z750, but it never succeeded despite the latter's limitations, even though it was already at the end of its career.
It barely managed to compete with the GSR 750, which was also released a few months later in a bit of a disaster, and was just as mechanically efficient, but much less well finished! Nevertheless, the FZ8 remains a safe bet for second-hand bikes, offering good value for money in terms of performance and handling. Rating : 4/5

Newly licensed at 48 (it's never too late...), and so first motorcycle and I agree with Cool Dog above, excellent choice for a 1st bike. My only two modifications: I replaced the fork springs with OHLINS and a Bagster gel seat. Pure joy. Rating : 4/5

I find this bike very pleasant to ride and easy to get used to...I think it's a good choice for a first motorcycle and allows you to appreciate the roads we have here in Quebec. Rating : 4/5
