presentation of the YZ 450 F 2014
faster and more responsive, the 2014 YZ 450 F inherits all the experience acquired by Yamaha over several decades in the off-road world. An accomplished machine.
the new YZ 450 F has been redesigned to refine its strengths and key features. Its innovative single-cylinder engine, with front-injection and rear-tilt, has been reworked to deliver more useful power. Its "snake" exhaust is just one of the modifications made to refocus the bike's masses.
the all-new chassis makes for an even more compact machine. With its new rear buckle, reworked clutch, repositioned fuel tank and modernized, streamlined bodywork, this bike is ready to take on the most demanding cross-country terrain.
reworked engine
the single-cylinder, four-stroke, four-valve, rearward-slanting engine with double overhead camshaft and front injection gains in power while being more usable. The electronic fuel injection unit (ECU), combined with new gearbox ratios, generates more engine torque: a property that becomes radically apparent from third gear onwards. Redesigned gearbox components smooth gearshifts. This reduces loss of traction during gear changes.
all-new chassis with bilateral aluminum beams
the chassis, closely derived from that of the YZ 250 F, improves feel and handling. The new exhaust muffler with its sculpted envelope shortens the rear loop and refocuses the masses for better balance. New fork coil springs and a 22 mm front wheel axle enhance the feel of the YZ 450 F's front end.
weight savings
a new frame and numerous optimized components save weight, which the rider feels from the very first turns of the YZ 450 F's handlebars. The use of a wet-sump lubrication system eliminates the need for an oil tank. Redesigned radiators and a short rear loop are just some of the features that have refined and sharpened the YZ 450 F.
refocusing the masses
the handling of the 2014 YZ 450 F has been significantly improved thanks to the refocusing of the masses. The new position of the fuel tank is immediately noticeable. With a capacity of 7.5 liters, it has been lowered. The new air box simplifies access to the air filter for easier maintenance. All the performance and power of a YZ 450 F in a 250cc chassis.
a new look for a new generation
minimalist, angular lines give it a dynamic, modern look. New side covers, a new airbox and a redesigned rear mudguard all encourage riding. And, for the first time on a Yamaha, the deco kit is tinted to improve durability.
