presentation of the XV 1900 A MIDNIGHT STAR CFD 2014
following in the footsteps of Harley and Victory, the Japanese are entering the bagger niche. Kawa has launched the VN 1700 Voyager Custom, Suzuki goes on the offensive with the Suzuki C 1500 T Intruder, Honda inaugurates a demesne of cylinders with the F6C, Yamaha imports this new XVA 1900 Midnight Star CFD...
new... for us. This model has existed for some time in the USA under the name Star Stratoliner Deluxe. A long-haul model derived from the 1900 Midnight Star cruiser. In fact, it's not the American model that crosses the Atlantic, but a Midnight Star equipped with a bagger pack.the result is the Casual Full Dress- from this elongated, majestic base, Yamaha has designed a lightened Tourer with a cape-shaped fork head, two side cases with quick-release fasteners, its huge twin and deep black pecked with a few chrome accents. The colossal twin gains a new slipper-assisted clutch that reduces grip effort by 20%. Its main role is to digest the excess torque on deceleration - the 1900 still produces almost 16 mkg. This clutch and the addition of touring appendages are the only changes from the standard 1900 Midnight Star.
ideal for cruising with a monstrous muscle under the handle, the 1900 CFD is imposing, its glittery paintwork a real eye-catcher.and, although it's reminiscent of the Harley-Davidson pig-nose, the wide forkhead exudes its own personality. The rear end is less flattering. The plastics and assembly don't give off an impression of high quality. A tiny pocket has been dug out just below the windshield, barely big enough for a smartphone and a wallet.
A small personal regret: why not keep the US name? You've got to admit, Statroliner Deluxe has more cachet than CFD...

for the rocket 3, never ridden with it, nice bike, it was on my list too, but I'll have to see after the after-sales service, (dealer, maintenance costs?) for the duo, on long trips, comfort???? every year I go down south on vacation, with my wife, on the bike.
i don't regret my choice at all (and there's the price to consider)
