presentation of the 1690 STREET GLIDE FLHX 2014
In Harley-Davidson land, excess and the open road go hand in hand. Almost a monument to long-distance touring, the Electra Glide is emblematic of the manufacturer, but its most serious rival is evolving here and alongside it: the Street Glide. A bagger rather than a cruiser-GT, the Street is less imposing than the exuberant Electra, and that's good for it. It's HD's best-selling model.
allure, a desire for the essential, and a very special charm that goes almost beyond mechanical expression. Riding a Harley has almost become a philosophy, especially when it comes to authenticity. This has not prevented the machine from evolving over time, while retaining an almost identical aesthetic with each generation. Style remains, technology evolves. After a decade of improvements (reinforced frame, optimized braking, larger fuel tank, ABS, new 6-speed gearbox, ever-increasing twin cubic capacity), the Street gains a new and copious series of refinements with the "Rushmore" project. A host of little extras based on feedback from customers, pros, fans... In short, the world of Harley. The manufacturer has listened and reacted.
the Twin Cam is one of the lucky winners of this policy. We don't find here the partially liquid-cooled version (reserved for theUltra Limited), but something a little spicier than the 103 of theold version. Called High Output, the 1690 cm3 twin-cylinder adopts a new camshaft, giving it 5% more torque. The clutch springs have been strengthened without affecting the left hand, and the hydraulic control has been revised accordingly.
the entire Touring range, including the Street Glide here, gains a 49 mm fork in place of the 43.1 mm and a revised shock absorber. New Reflex brakes, balancing front and rear braking, complement the ABS. The 10-spoke cast-aluminium wheels are lighter and stiffer.
Added to this is Project Rushmore's top priority: enjoyment. To this end, the almost sacred Batwing fairing has been reworked: a slot at the base of the mini windscreen has been added, reducing turbulence around the rider. The BOOM BOX 4.3 audio system is now even easier to use. A name justified by the size of its screen. This multimedia environment is a benchmark, second only to the 6.5 touchscreen installed on the Ultra Limited and Tri-Glide. BOOM features 25 watts per channel, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, CB radio and voice-activated intercom. Bonus: a double set of controls: all functions can be operated from the front-mounted buttons or via the joysticks attached to the commodos.
One of the Street Glide's distinguishing features is its wide-fronted, single-eyed face. The headlamp is a double-halogen model, much more effective in foggy conditions. For the moment, the must-have is reserved for the more ostentatious models, such as theUltra Limited and Classic, which feature the new Daymaker dual lens and LED system.
travelling light also rhymes with a certain practicality on board the Street. Luggage capacity has been increased by 8%, and the new One-Touch buttons (on the fuel filler cap, saddlebags and other hatches) make it easy to open and close at the touch of a button. When you're on the road, you'll enjoy the vibrations of the big twin towing this heavy bagger, the superb dashboard worthy of a vintage Cadillac, and the timeless charm of a Harley. The Street Glide 103 High Output still commands a high price for its services.

Except that I come from the hyper sport at the base...
the journalist gives 2 negative points... the weight... and price...
Except that it's super easy to handle, I find it stable, agile, it brakes superbly...

Ideal for taller riders
Very comfortable, and top-notch protection.
And 100hp in stage 2...

And I have 3 meters and 3 radios
For condensation inside
There are other cases ???? Rating : 4/5 Respond to Charly
8000km
And that makes 3 replacement of meter and radio for moisture inside
Is there anyone else with this problem? Merci à tous Rating : 5/5 Respond to Charly
More torque I'd say is the only positive point. The braking is a real catastrophe, the dashboard has been denatured, it almost looks like a GT...where are the chromes??? The panniers are more practical to open, but the one on the switch is not. In short, the beauty of the brand lies in its rough side..... attention..... Rating : 3/5 Respond to Biker
It's quite simply a magnificent motorcycle.
A Harley will always be a Harley.
