presentation of the 1700 V-MAX CARBON 2015

The Yamaha V-Max is a UFO in the motorcycle world. A mix of roadster and custom motorcycle, it's as powerful as you can get, as heavy as an anvil and as unreasonable as you like. An intimidating, delectable, forbidden and indispensable powder keg. Am I talking about the 1200 or the 1700? Both, as they share a spirit, a design and an exuberance fit to span the decades.

this mechanical madness began 30 years ago. Hence Yamaha's desire to celebrate a special anniversary. 30 broomsticks is the age when you're ready to settle down, and for the 1700 V-Max, it's time to equip yourself with a few noble accessories. This special edition comes with a tank cowling, front and rear mudguards and carbon-fiber side covers. And something to sing about: the V4 may be monstrously strong with its 200 hp (106 in France for another year) and gargantuan 17 mkg of torque, but it still has to make up its vocal tunes with some big, castrating bowls. The pair of upright Akrapovic exhausts fitted to this 30th Anniversary Series will arrange the scores of this 1679 cm3 big block. They also save 1.2 kilos in weight, and add a hint of power.

extravagant and confidential, Carbon or standard, the V-Max is distinguished by an incredible face, a unique V4 engine, a variable intake system in the airbox, a cardan shaft transmission, a dewheelbase, dual instrumentation, 6-piston radial brake calipers, striking side scoops, anti-dribble clutch, 52 mm forks, and a top speed limited to 220 km/h, so off-the-limits is this machine. To complete this edition, we would have liked to see a commemorative badge and the air intake vents also in carbon.

my second maxou 1700 80 000 with the first one and my second one a jack daniels equipped at cannes moto service this bike is out of the norm one likes it or not but for me biker since (50 years) and having had only sport bikes i advise to have a little experience to drive this monster because of the weight which in spite of my kms with manages to surprise me 'the abs compensates a little and the the big flaw is the ridiculous fuel tank, given the price: for me, this was solved with a 25-liter, a "coup de coeur" motorcycle with a sizeable budget, especially for tires: for me, 700 euros for both, an Avon 280 at the back and a 130 Metzeler at the front: I had a 300 Metzeler before, but it was uncomfortable with this latest set-up: the bike is a good compromise between aesthetics and ride quality Rating : 5/5
I used to own one, duly retrofitted at Yam so with the 200hp that goes with it. I sold it because I didn't want my son, a young driver's license holder, to ride it. For the rest of my life, I'll regret having sold this marvel
Let's leave aside the ridiculous range (100km if you get on it), and the braking which, although powerful, wasn't enough to stop the beast in the event of a mistake. This bike is dangerous, requires a lot of experience and is unforgiving - let's be clear about that! Handling, on the other hand, was quite decent, which paradoxically encouraged crime and accentuated the bike's dangerous side. What an engine! What a kick! This monster of torque and power will never be seen again. In 3 on the freeway at 150, all you had to do was open the throttle wide and the rear tire would wax for dozens of meters!
I'll stop, it brings tears to my eyes just talking about it, I should never have sold it. If you own one, keep it preciously...

As a former owner of a vmax (prepared)...., I rode the 17, which has a super engine, the controls fall nicely like on the 12,...very good for winding up on the road, but be careful, when you "get into it", there's no room for error!!!!because the weight makes it exhausting and dangerous...and the worst thing about this moped is its range and fuel consumption !!!...to put it simply, on the road, 1/3rd of the reze to do 32 kms !!! that's: 96 kms for 15 L..,when you're driving, what !!!!...and that's precisely what made me switch to B-king instead... and what a pleasure it is...
My next ???..Ducati 1200 Monster,or Diavel ...to be seen on the road...

This bike is a technological must-have. Owner of the 1200 model 96 and of a 1700 2009, the Vmax has always been a passion bike because of its "mouth", its muscle bike look and its versatility, combining a quiet ride with demonic acceleration that rivals a good hypersport (in a straight line, of course^^). One point I find fault with in all the reviews I read: fuel consumption... So biker friends, to have a range of 200 to 300kms buy a goldwing (although I have nothing against them). When you buy a vmax, it's for its colossal power, and for that, everything has a price. Rating : 5/5
