presentation of the XV 950 Racer 2015
cruising smoothly along the seashore.... Abandon the patina of long curves and let the sun caress you... Let your arms play at the end of the wide handlebars...
A passive, peaceful picture that the XV 950 Bolt can no longer bear. Faced with this disgust of good feelings, Yamaha's turbulent custom decided to shake up the mamys. This was to be expected: the XJR 1300's neo-retro leanings led the Bolt to follow suit. After a quick bite to eat, the XV took a sniff of "Yard Built" philosophy, locked itself in the garage, and emerged in a Racer version.
as a result, it lets its old-timers (the Midnight Star) go for a ride on Sundays. The XV 950 Racer, on the other hand, goes looking for trouble in the parking lots, rubbing its nose in the new wave of "factory preparations". A musky café-racer fragrance emanates from this machine, coupled with a more compact, edgier look. Check out the aluminum number plates under the seat, directly inspired by those on the XJR 1300. Let your mind wander as you discover the minimalist windscreen, matching seat cover and wristband handlebars. That's it, you're in! A pair of spoked rims and this ersatz preparation would have been top-notch.
the look is there, but... Do we believe it or not?!? The 942 cm3 twin-cylinder engine doesn't spit fire, nor does it pretend to. The power is enough to enjoy yourself. Once on board, it's the Joe BAR Team that runs through your veins. The riding position is different from that of the standard XV 950. The seat is 75 mm higher, and the half handlebars take your hands 156 mm further forward and 78 mm lower. This allows the rider to stretch out further on the machine and grip the front end, while the legs also take on a slightly sportier position. The footrests have also moved, being moved back 150 mm and up 29 mm. From an XV to a Racer, it's a game-changer. You ride one, you want to ride the other.

ergonomics take you on an urban tour to savor, and you don't immediately notice the little special features of this Yamaha XV 950 Racer. The front turn signals are offset from the lower fork crown, and there are also new commodos, longer suspension travels (front: 144, i.e. +9 mm; rear: 116, i.e. +6 mm), fork gussets...
the Racer is not only a stylish variation on the Bolt, but also a demonstration that the machine lends itself perfectly to all manner of customization. Yamaha offers a small series of accessories to enhance this bike, developed in conjunction with Rizoma and Akrapovic - a handlebar end mirror, footrests carved from the mass and a front transmission pulley cover created by Rizoma, a lever for the front fork and a fork clamp.clutch and brake levers, license plate holder, front fork reinforcement, Akra exhaust, sport air filter - after that, imagination can take you a long way in the garage.

It's curious to note that today a large-displacement machine can go completely unnoticed on the French market...
Such is the case with this unfortunate XV 950 Racer...
A quick reminder: it began selling in the USA in January 2015, where it seems to have caught on. The French media presented it in March 2015. It was available in dealerships at the end of May 2015... And since then? Nothing ... Nothingness, abyssal emptiness, gone, vanished, evaporated! Not a single pro test drive, even Yam agents barely remember it... As for the few stores that have them in stock (1 or 2 nationwide!), they're forced to sell them off, as this poor machine is so unknown to the masses! Admittedly, it could be considered simply as a new variation on the existing, well-known Bolt 950s, but all the same ... Yam's idea was to switch from a custom "toe fan" to a front-mounted café racer with bracelets: the change of philosophy seemed radical enough to me to be worth checking out... But then, I guess I'm the only one who thinks like that in this country! Even the Yam importer seems to have completely overlooked this bike: zero communication, zero advertising, nothing nada walou ... On the other hand, the marketing and events steamroller has been working at full speed for other models in the Héritage, Faster Sons and other ranges...
So, what's this Yamaha XV 950 Racer worth? Well, we don't know! It's a strange situation, isn't it, for a motorcycle that seems to me to have its place among current trends and our landscape? So, with these few lines, I wanted to right a wrong and show a hint of compassion for this unfortunate Yamaha: "No! you're not alone in France! there's at least one person who knows that you exist and who thinks of you! (for want of knowing more about you) ...
Hey guys, if you need someone for a test drive, no soucy, j\'peux vous prêter des mains, des pieds, des fesses aussi ... Chiche ?
