presentation of the 800 FAZER 8 2016

like its FZ8 sibling, the Fazer 800 discreetly ended its career last year. And said goodbye by selling off the 2015 stock in the 2016 shelves. A distant descendant of the famous FZS 600 Fazer, its last adjustments were made in 2013, with suspension tuning - an area where it was clearly lacking. Admittedly, given its road-oriented nature, it was easier to forgive its soft suspension. Criticism was more virulent for its FZ8 sibling. But when you've got a heritage of FZ1s and R1s, you've got to be more than respectable.
We said that the Fazer 8 was equipped with adjustable suspensions: the fork is now adjustable in rebound and compression on the right fork, and in spring preload on the left fork. The shock absorber gains a firmer spring (83.4 N/m vs. 78.4 previously), new settings and a knob for rebound adjustment. Other small changes include transparent indicators and a new exhaust system, much more elegant than the previous blunderbuss.

will this change the 4-cylinder's sound? The Fazer 8's engine is a de-bored version of the FZ1's big 4-cylinder, originally installed in the 2004 R1. The piston stroke is identical, but the bore is reduced from 77 to 68 mm. This gives us a 779 cm3 displacement. A power output of 106 hp is delivered, but above all, Yam has worked on torque. A large-volume airbox (7.8 liters), dual-throttle injection, engine dimensions that aren't too super-square, and to compensate for the loss of the EXUP, the intake ducts are not the same for each cylinder. The tubes leading to chambers 1 and 4 are 125 mm long, and 150 mm for cylinders 2 and 3. This too enhances torque. With 8.4 mkg, the Fazer 8 is a tad better equipped than the Z 800, and much more than the FZ6 Fazer S2 it replaced.

the Fazer 8 has a lot to live up to. And the chassis can keep up with it. Virtually identical to that of the Fazer 1000, and therefore designed for much greater power, the aluminum diamond frame, inverted fork and hypersport-style swingarm will perfectly handle the ardor of the machine and rider. 2 x 310 mm discs clamped by 4-piston calipers slow everything down. ABS is optional.

Yamaha 800 FAZER 8 2016 - 1Yamaha 800 FAZER 8 2016 - 1

by the way, you wouldn't choose a Fazer 8 for the fighting (though...). Its raison d'être is versatility, with a touch of sportiness. The large fork head confirms this. Apart from the exhaust and fuel tank side covers, it's this appendage in particular that will distinguish the Fazer 800 from the 1000. A slimmer, more R1 look makes it less intimidating but more piercing, more mischievous. The sides are completed by offset flanks, like those inaugurated on the last generation R6.
Slightly different strapontin, slightly reduced fuel tank capacity, same speedometer, same engine, same chassis... We're taking our gloves off, but not taking too many risks with the design of this new machine.

with this Fazer 8 and its larger engine, the medium-displacement FZ roadster has something to say to the Kawasaki Z 800. More powerful and with a bigger trunk than the FZ6 Fazer S2, and lighter than the FZ1, this 800 lacks just a little boldness, but not quality.

Moto très fun.
French Sined Model 2010
I've had this bike for a year now, and the engine is docile and furious at the same time... you can ride it on a trickle in 6th gear through the middle of nowhere, and the bike will take off again at a leisurely pace. And if you feel like a sporty ride, don't worry, it does it very well indeed, part of the sporty look. For my part, I don't find any shock absorber problems. I say +++ for this machine. Rating : 5/5
French Model 2016
Over 45,000 km in 2 years
whether you're commuting to work, hanging out with your buddies or touring, she can do it all, and do it well.
The forks on early models need a little work. All in all, it's a very good bike, even if it lacks a bit of ground clearance and watts. The seat is too slippery, but you get used to it.

aucun regres
French DEBILOFF PROFON Model 2012
i happily switched from a 600 bandit to the FZ8. the difference is enormous and the pleasure is top notch. I owned a Suzuki SV1000S and in comparison the twin cylinder had more torque, but the linear is much more pleasant. the FZ is very light and easy to handle. in short, I have no regrets and highly recommend it.
the only downside is the range, as a smaller tank won't last as long lol.

(44 years old, riding a motorcycle since 1986, old tdm motorcycle 107000 kms)
i chose the fazer 8 ABS out of spite; the replacement for the tdm didn't please me at all. In the end, I don't regret it:
Pros: decent comfort, pleasant aesthetics, two-faced engine: pleasant under 6,000 rpm, it becomes sporty above that and willingly revs up. You don't have to change gear all the time (in 6th gear from 2000 to 10500 rpm without any problem if you're alone). reasonable fuel consumption. Smooth injection. Good value for money
The -s: gear ratio too short, especially 6th (from 4500rpm to 100km/h). too little storage space under the seat (barely enough for rain pants). side cases (only adaptable) are to be expected. plastics (front mudguard, side covers) are fragile

French benito Model 2010
Excellent bike, mine has 57000kms and no worries.it deserves a better quality rear shock absorber.it can do it all, ride, road, freeway, work, vacations,a real Swiss army knife Rating : 5/5

I currently own a honda deauville 2012, I exchange it at the end of June by the fazer 8 abs, they do not make it any more in gray, I chose it in black matt gold fork, sympathetic dealer it takes again me my motor bike 1000 euro moreover, whereas at my dealer honda 1000 in less not very cool, moreover it offers top case 47l and platinum sympathetic of its share (I AM IMPATIENT TO HAVE IT) Rating : 4/5
Polyvalence !!!

A versatile, comfortable, easy-to-ride motorcycle, but with a good engine that's more than enough for our roads with their limits...

hello everyone,
i've just finished my run-in, so I'll be doing a few spikes to wake up the beast.
i don't have much experience of sports cars, but for a so-called tourer, frankly, it's a killer...
and what's more, it's comfortable.
true versatility.
conclusion, fulfilled...

French pat 16 Model 2012
Very versatile motorcycle, especially for a 60-year-old biker, I've been riding since 1974, already 23500km model bought in February 2011. Tires changed 13000km, current tires will go well around 15000km before witness.
Effective vue l\'article précédent moto facile d\'utilisation par tout temps, même sous la neige!!! (en gadoue).

French eXistenZ Model 2012
6000km on the odometer. Once the original shock absorber (worthy of a 2hp) has been changed (EMC) and the front fork adapted, it's an excellent, superbly versatile machine that outshines the competition when you do a points score (its only real flaw is really the shock absorber, unworthy of such a machine). You'll find a little better on each criterion from other manufacturers, but it's hard to align so many qualities on the same bike... (I chose it after a long test of CB1000R, TNT900, F800R, Shiver) Rating : 4/5
French openkil Model 2012
i've just bought one and find it very stable and lively Rating : 5/5
French KOUROS27 Model 2012
3000 kms later, this Fazer 8 shows very good versatility. More than adequate acceleration, cruising speed at 5,000 rpm in 6°, 130 km/h, average fuel consumption 6 to 7 liters when hitting the road. Top handling, more than adequate braking without ABS. Super torque, pick-up in 5th or 6th gear even in town, quick warm-up, careful in traffic jams! Very maneuverable, even for stop-and-go maneuvers.
In duo, the passenger is a bit high, but good position all the same. Comfortable seat (up to 200kms in any case...).
At this price, good value for money.
Rating : 4/5
French Boite4 Model 2012
I think it's excellent, alone or with a friend, it's very comfortable, it's beautiful, a great success in my opinion. Very good acceleration and a kick in the ass after 7000 rpm, you have to hold on to it.... good range, even if a little more fuel tank would have been more appreciable for long rides!!! It gets a bit hot in traffic. Apart from that, a gear indicator would have been a plus in my opinion. It's a very good everyday bike, you're not leaning on the handles. It holds the road very well. The tires are excellent in any weather, even snow !!!! I wouldn't change it for the world. Rating : 1/5
French Fredo 07 Model 2010
I'm very happy with this bike in general and especially with the engine character, which picks up well even in 6th gear at 2000 rpm. I fitted an Akra muffler and the noise and the look :)
solo, it's great and offers very reasonable fuel consumption
Of course, the suspension !!!!!!
minor comments: it heats up too much in the upper thighs when used for long periods in hot weather
and the passenger constantly has to get back on the saddle because it's too inclined towards the rider
