presentation of the 800 FAZER 8 2012
fazer goes hand in hand. Since 2004, an FZ never comes alone. The roadster is always accompanied by its fork-head version. A much-appreciated appendage when the wind takes you on a few trips. The Fazer 8 is in this vein. And like the FZ8 naked roadster, this version takes a lot from its FZ1 1000 Fazer sibling. Don't look for boldness in the technical choices; many, and above all, come from the FZ1.
the Fazer 8's engine is a de-bored version of the 1000's big 4-cylinder, originally installed in the 2004 R1. The piston stroke is identical, but the bore is reduced from 77 to 68 mm. This gives us a 779 cm3 displacement. Power output is 106 hp, but Yam has also worked on torque. A large-volume airbox (7.8 liters), dual-throttle injection, engine dimensions that aren't too super-square, and to compensate for the loss of the EXUP, the intake ducts are not the same for each cylinder. The tubes leading to chambers 1 and 4 are 125 mm long, and 150 mm for cylinders 2 and 3. This too enhances torque. At 8.4 mkg, the Fazer 8 is a tad better equipped than the Z 750, and much more so than the FZ6 Fazer S2 it is set to replace.
the Fazer 8 has a lot to live up to. And the chassis can keep up with it. Virtually identical to that of the Fazer 1000, and therefore designed for much greater power, the aluminum diamond frame, inverted fork and hypersport-style swingarm are perfectly capable of withstanding the rigors of the machine and rider. 2 x 310 mm discs clamped by 4-piston calipers slow everything down. An optional ABS - no radial for the calipers, but would they have any place on a machine like this, whose use isn't exactly that of a streetfighter?
besides, you wouldn't choose a Fazer 8 for fighting (although...). Its raison d'être is versatility, with a touch of sportiness. The large fork head confirms this. Apart from the exhaust and fuel tank side covers, it's this appendage in particular that will distinguish the Fazer 800 from the 1000. A slimmer, more R1 look makes it less intimidating but more piercing, more mischievous. The sides are completed by offset flanks, like those inaugurated on the last generation R6.
Slightly different strapontin, slightly reduced fuel tank capacity, same speedometer, same engine, same chassis... We're taking our gloves off, but not taking too many risks with the design of this new machine.
with this Fazer 8 and its larger engine, the medium-displacement FZ roadster finally has something to say to the Kawasaki Z 750. More powerful and with a bigger trunk than a FZ6 Fazer S2, less heavy than the FZ1, this 800 lacks just a little boldness but not quality. If, in addition, it wins its bet on versatility, Yam could well have found a very good recipe.

whether you're commuting to work, hanging out with your buddies or touring, she can do it all, and do it well.
The forks on early models need a little work. All in all, it's a very good bike, even if it lacks a bit of ground clearance and watts. The seat is too slippery, but you get used to it. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Jérémy
the only downside is the range, as a smaller tank won't last as long lol. Rating : 5/5 Respond to DEBILOFF PROFON
i chose the fazer 8 ABS out of spite; the replacement for the tdm didn't please me at all. In the end, I don't regret it:
Pros: decent comfort, pleasant aesthetics, two-faced engine: pleasant under 6,000 rpm, it becomes sporty above that and willingly revs up. You don't have to change gear all the time (in 6th gear from 2000 to 10500 rpm without any problem if you're alone). reasonable fuel consumption. Smooth injection. Good value for money
The -s: gear ratio too short, especially 6th (from 4500rpm to 100km/h). too little storage space under the seat (barely enough for rain pants). side cases (only adaptable) are to be expected. plastics (front mudguard, side covers) are fragile
Rating : 4/5 Respond to bbl
I have a wonderful time riding it.
When I see this wonderful 2014 Fazer 8, I really want to buy it as soon as possible.
I make an appointment with my dealer!!!!but I'm still hesitating about the color.
White, black or gray? Rating : 5/5 Respond to tolrip

i've just finished my run-in, so I'll be doing a few spikes to wake up the beast.
i don't have much experience of sports cars, but for a so-called tourer, frankly, it's a killer...
and what's more, it's comfortable.
true versatility.
conclusion, fulfilled...

Rating : 5/5 Respond to pat 16
In duo, the passenger is a bit high, but good position all the same. Comfortable seat (up to 200kms in any case...).
At this price, good value for money. Rating : 4/5 Respond to KOUROS27
solo, it's great and offers very reasonable fuel consumption
Of course, the suspension !!!!!!
minor comments: it heats up too much in the upper thighs when used for long periods in hot weather
and the passenger constantly has to get back on the saddle because it's too inclined towards the rider
