presentation of the YZ 250 F 2022
certain details can make all the difference. More or less important, depending on each rider's profile. For 2022, the YZ 250 F has managed to shave off a few hundred grams thanks to a lighter rear hub and a new chain. The Iwata-based brand is taking advantage of the new vintage to revise the settings of the SSS (Speed Sensitive System) fork and rear suspension, install a wider rear rim with a 110 tire, and revise the spoke profile. A timid evocation that will be seen as a fine-tuning of last year's profound changes.
Indeed, for 2021, Yamaha was aiming even higher with the launch of a new YZ 250 F, equipped with an optimized engine, redesigned frame, new suspension settings, new brakes and digital technologies that set it apart in this ultra-competitive category.
A completely redesigned engine
every major component has been reconsidered and improved to give riders a real edge on the track. Thanks to an inverted cylinder head design that offers improved intake efficiency and mass centralization, the 250 cm3 4-valve engine stands out as one of the best performers in its class.
to develop the 2021-2022 model, Yamaha engineers analyzed every key element and made a large number of significant changes to optimize performance, as well as an improved transmission offering smoother shifting.

The 2021-2022 engine's power feel, from mid-range to over-rev, has been enhanced by the use of a new exhaust camshaft with a redesigned profile that reduces valve crossover. Combined with optimized fuel injection parameters, this new camshaft enhances the machine's engine character, even at medium revs, offering superior performance and greater control.
All-new high-efficiency intake system
the forward-facing intake of the YZ 250 F is a key element that gives this engine a significant advantage. In addition to delivering air directly into the engine for greater combustion efficiency and acceleration response, this rear-tilted single-cylinder design offers excellent mass centralization, contributing to the bike's agility and handling.
the intake system on this model is completely new. The redesigned airbox moves away from the intake cone and has been shortened by 20 mm to give incoming air a smoother, more direct flow. Another key change is the use of a new air filter housing cover mounted at the front of the seat. Taking advantage of new ducts, this cover increases intake air volume to deliver even higher performance at high revs.
New high-performance silencer
to accompany the engine's increased performance, a new, larger-capacity muffler has been installed. Only 70 mm longer than the previous model, it delivers smoother acceleration, particularly at high revs, and a deep sound that underlines the character of this engine.
Reinforced clutch housing and flexible transmission
to optimize the new engine's performance, the clutch housing has been redesigned. It features thicker, much stronger walls, offering enhanced durability and more assertive performance throughout the stroke.
the 3rd, 4th and 5th gears on the input and output shafts have been redesigned to offer improved transmission performance, while the gears are shot-blasted to offer greater robustness and match the engine's increased performance.
Redesigned frame with bilateral beam optimizes handling
this motocrosser was already renowned for its handling and lightness, but testing by Yamaha designers has refined the frame structure and taken chassis performance to the next level.
the YZ 250 F 2021-2022 features a new bilateral-beam aluminum frame which, while similar to the previous design, introduces a number of significant changes that match the increased performance of the new engine and concretely improve the feel of handling. By improving the rigidity of the frame in key areas, Yamaha's designers have been able to create a chassis that offers handling and lightness, as well as an unprecedented sense of confidence and precision. Other chassis components, such as the fork crown, handlebar mounts and front wheel axle, have also been redesigned to meet the requirements of the new frame, contributing to the optimized performance of this cross-country machine.

yamaha cross bikes are renowned for their class-leading suspension systems. At the front, the fully adjustable KYB fork with coil springs offers speed-matched damping for exceptional handling performance, while at the rear, the KYB Monocross linkage shock absorber system provides optimum control and traction.
truly "factory-optimized", the suspension package becomes even more powerful. KYB fork settings have been improved to provide more progressive damping throughout the stroke, giving the rider a finer feel for contact with the track surface, while offering better bump absorption to conserve rider energy. At the rear, the KYB shock absorber also benefits from new settings that offer greater stability and limit the bike's camber.
these major suspension enhancements, combined with the rigidity of the new double-beam frame, give the YZ 250 F 2021-2022 exceptional handling. Even lighter, the new model offers an unprecedented sense of precision, enabling the rider to maintain the chosen trajectory in the fastest corners. Traction is also enhanced by these chassis modifications, giving the machine greater control and a real edge over the competition.
Lighter, more powerful braking system
braking performance has been improved and the weight of the braking system reduced since 2021.
The front caliper is 30% stiffer than that of the previous model. It incorporates larger-diameter pistons and a new brake pad design, while a new 270 mm front disc provides a 16% increase in pad contact area, with no increase in weight. The design of the rear brake calipers is also new and, combined with a new 240 mm rear disc, this system offers the same braking power while weighing 120 g less. The new braking system makes a significant contribution to the bike's competitiveness and dynamic handling.
New handlebar position
To improve riding position and handling, the handlebars of the YZ 250 F 2021-2022 are mounted further forward, allowing the rider to move and load the front end when necessary.
new handlebar mounts are fitted to a new, lighter fork crown, both elements benefiting from a new rigidity balance that reduces stress on the rider's arms. The new chromoly steel footpegs and front wheel axle are lighter, enabling the bike to weigh just 106 kg, with a 6.2-liter fuel tank and 0.95-liter engine oil. That's just 3 kg more than the YZ 250 2-stroke.
Yamaha Power Tuner
power Tuner is an easy-to-use digital innovation that allows YZ 250 F or YZ 450 F riders to fine-tune engine power using their smartphone. All riders and mechanics have to do is download the free Power Tuner app to their iOS or Android devices, then instantly connect to the YZ 250 F to adjust fuel injection and ignition timing via the bike's Communications Control Unit (CCU). Thanks to the Power Tuner application, the rider can define his own settings and, using the handlebar-mounted button, choose between two engine maps.

I have a problem with my 2017 YZF 250 motorcycle. It's been two times that I ride without problem a good part of the day and it dies when I fall and impossible to restart it.
I changed the spark plug, it was white and it did not change anything....
thank you Rating : 5/5 Respond to Goderre
for the rest it's expensive and not necessarily useful a line if you want to increase performance a little and the look counts in the 700â'¬ the line see more if you take in titanium and carbon end,
ignition in the 650â'¬ range etc etc ... Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
