presentation of the MT-125 2022

It's time to start riding. Not yet got your A or A2 license? Don't worry, we've got 125s on offer. Need something simple to get you around town? YS, CBF or Mash Seventy will do the trick.

No ? Is it the urge that prevails? A need for something hairy and that seems to bite?! Well, the Yamaha MT-125 is getting a big update.

You know how manufacturers create an ultra-sporty roadster? They take a violent hypersport, strip it down to its bare essentials, adapt it for road use, and let it boil in the rider's hands. For the youngest member of the MT family, it's the same principle from the bottom up. Hop on Yam's little sports bike, the recently upgraded YZF-R 125. Take off the bodywork and see how much can be extracted to create a new MT-125. There's no need to pull out molars, because the whole face is there.

Yamaha MT-125 2022 - 1Yamaha MT-125 2022 - 1

2020 announced the new face of Masters of Torque. The MT-03 II was given a major facelift. The little MT does exactly the same, with tapered eyes planted in a delicately aggressive fork head. Whether we like it or not, we're treated to the same luminous cyst in place of a mouth. With new, better-integrated air intake scoops, inspired by the first MT-09, a redesigned fuel tank (1.5 liters less capacity) and a lighter engine mount, the Yam is more slender. It looks like a ballerina... not for the opera, but for a Batman concert.
The rear end has also been redesigned. Completely. It's no longer the posterior of a sports bike, but a true roadster hindquarters, with a one-piece seat and a more fluid, compact stature. Jiiffllll..... Theold MT has just taken 10 years in the face in one headline.

Yamaha MT-125 2020so much for identity, let's see about technicality. The MT-125 takes its name from its displacement. As you'd expect, like all cops', it generates 15 hp from its single. The Z, Tuono, CB-R, Duke or GSX-S are no better or worse. But the Yamaha has an ace up its sleeve. Its engine benefits from a variable intake system. Called VVA and recently made available on theYZF-R 125, this system uses two cams controlled by a solenoid(I don't know what it looks like either). Below 7,400 rpm, the first cam acts, since its profile and timing are designed for better low- and mid-range performance. Above that, the VVA tilts the other cam. Benefiting from higher lift and a meaner valve-opening diagram, the mill will want to get the best out of it at high revs.
In the end, you still have no more than 15 grunts. At 10,000 rpm, 1,000 more than before. But the power and torque curve will be fuller than with yesterday's mechanics.
New engine, new gearbox and assisted anti-dribble clutch. It's not so much the sledgehammer downshifts with torque barely above 1 mkg that will ruin the ride, but a little smoothness and stability never hurts. What's more, the new clutch makes shifting much easier.

The MT-125 has also undergone a number of changes. You may not notice it right away, but the rear tire has grown in size. By 10 mm to 140 mm.
The handlebars are a little higher, the seat a little lower, and the footrests further forward. You can also count on the new saddle, with ergonomics geared towards greater comfort and agility.

Yamaha MT-125 2020 a 41 mm inverted fork, monoshock, 292 mm front disc brakes with double-piston radial calipers, 17-inch wheels at each end... it's in between that we see change. In other words, a 30 mm shorter wheelbase for even greater agility. The frame and swingarm have been redesigned, without changing materials. Steel for the Deltabox, aluminum for the swingarm. Both are now combined with a wider pivot point.

Let's save a little digital for last. It was high time to change the dashboard. The sporty one is much nicer, so why deprive yourself? The MT-125 gains a digital window, more pleasant and more qualitative.
It'll be just what you need to get back into the small-time crowd. The atmosphere is tense, the canine blows willingly, and if there are no low blows, no mercy either. While those at the handlebars will be happy to compare their machines with this new MT - and the whole gang will leave with a smile on their faces.

Qui va acheter ça ?
French Mike Model 2021
The price of the Euro 5 model is absolutely outrageous. LED indicators are not even standard, the new color combinations are ugly whereas the 2020 models were really stylish. the Honda CB 125R 2021 is so much more interesting and better value for money.... Bye bye Yamaha.... Rating : 2/5
French Mike Model 2020
Very beautiful and expensive bike. I never see them on the roads or in built-up areas. Probably the price... Rating : 5/5
