presentation of the XU 2012
the Zero XU is a lightweight, innovative electric motorcycle that blends cutting-edge technology, performance and practicality to become the benchmark for urban commuting. A low saddle, no gears, removable battery, and optional luggage allow riders to tackle the city with a new sense of freedom.
ride the way you like. Turn the handlebars to the right, relax and cruise from destination to destination. Or... hop along sidewalks, accelerate around bends, get back in line, cut through traffic. Designed to combine utility with pure pleasure, the Zero XU transforms the city into a biker's theme park. It's ideal for everyday use...but especially for dynamic city dwellers who sometimes want to push their limits.
Built around an aircraft-style aluminum chassis, the Zero XU's minimalist styling is chunky, eye-catching and comfortable. With a removable battery and the option of a stand-alone charger, urban bikers can recharge anywhere. As with all Zero models, the 2012 Zero XU costs just pennies to recharge, and with its maintenance-free powertrain, it's one of the most economical motorcycles to ride.
what's new - 2012
the Zero XU 2012 features a completely new powertrain. The increased power translates into +75% range per charge, improved top speed (+25%), and energy recuperation during braking. It improves the life cycle and offers virtually zero maintenance costs. Capable of reaching speeds of up to 104 km/h, the new Zero XU also benefits from a wider range of available power for even more fun urban travel. With the new battery and cell configuration, combined with the brushless motor, the Zero XU accepts 3,000 charging cycles, and approximately 160,000 km without any powertrain overhaul. Finally, the belt drive is both maintenance-free and silent, as on the Zero S and Zero DS.
revised geometry and new, re-sized brake discs improve handling and braking performance. Visually, the 2012 Zero XU stands out from its predecessor with a black anodized aluminum chassis.
