the Zero XU is a lightweight, innovative and practical electric motorcycle that combines cutting-edge technology and performance to become the electric benchmark for urban commuting. A low seat height, no gears, a removable battery and optional luggage allow all riders to tackle the city with a new kind of freedom.
Built around an aircraft-grade aluminum chassis, the Zero XU's minimalist styling is strong, eye-catching and comfortable. With a removable battery and the option of a stand-alone charger, urban bikers can recharge anywhere. As with all Zero models, the 2012 Zero XU costs just pennies to recharge, and with its maintenance-free powertrain, it's one of the most economical motorcycles in use today.

double the power
the 2013 model of the Zero XU powertrain has been completely redesigned and equipped with the new Z-Force engine. The same applies to the entire 2013 Zero Motorcycles range. With 91% more torque and twice the power, the Zero XU lets you get around town quickly, thanks to an 81% increase in range, which translates into 122 km of city travel. Now equipped with the first fully integrated modular propulsion system, the Zero XU is available in two versions: ZF2.8 (one module) and ZF5.7 (two modules). The lockable modules can be added separately or removed, regardless of load level, in less than a minute. As with the rest of the 2013 range, the Zero FX can be recharged to 95% at CHAdeMO terminals in an hour, or even less, thanks to an optional accessory.
With its new red fairing and revised black frame, the Zero XU now has a much more contemporary look. In addition, the Nissin braking system, new swingarm and larger fork crown ensure 100% rigidity and control, enhancing ride quality. The 2013 Zero XU is also completely customizable: it can be equipped with mobile devices via Bluetooth, allowing the rider to view a dashboard to his or her liking, with detailed riding information and the ability to adjust the bike's performance characteristics.
the first fully integrated modular propulsion system
the Zero XU features the first fully integrated modular propulsion system. With slots for two batteries, you can use either one or both of the Zero XU's battery slots. Batteries can be charged on the bike or elsewhere using an optional accessory. There's no need for a ground-level socket. The batteries also work with the optional CHAdeMO and quick charge accessories. These recharge the battery to 95% in one hour.
The Zero XU is available with one (ZF2.8) or two (ZF5.7) battery modules. Compatible with the Zero FX and Zero MX, these modules are interchangeable between the three bikes.
z-Force motor - Fast, remarkably efficient and maintenance-free
the Zero XU is equipped with the same state-of-the-art Z-Force technology as the fastest bikes in the 2013 range. Compact, efficient and powerful, the engine delivers breathtaking acceleration and is remarkably efficient. Fully air-cooled, the engine is designed to give you a fantastic riding experience with no maintenance required. When you slow down, the motor generates energy which is fed back into the battery to extend range.
recharge anywhere - Recharge in any standard socket
the Zero XU's charging system is integrated into the motorcycle and can be plugged into any standard socket. No additional equipment is required for standard charging. For those interested in fast charging, the CHAdeMO accessory recharges the battery to 95% in just one hour.
The Zero XU's battery modules can be removed from the motorcycle and charged separately using an optional accessory. This means they can be charged anywhere. So you don't have to use a ground-level socket.
chassis and body - light and unobtrusive
the Zero XU is built from the incredibly robust frames of the Zero X and Zero MX, and then adapted for the road. The frame is made exclusively of aircraft-grade aluminum, offering lightness and rigidity. The result is a bike that's fun to ride, ideal for tackling the rough and tumble of the city.

with Zero Motorcycles' new app, you have access to detailed information about your motorcycle: recharge time, average power in watts per kilometer, complete charge cycles and much more. When you're stationary, the app lets you set personalized parameters for top speed, maximum torque and maximum energy regeneration under braking. While you're riding, your cell phone transforms into a personalized dashboard, providing you with detailed information about the bike in real time. Thanks to Bluetooth, the app works on iPhone and Android.

thanks to its silent, gearless operation, all the rider has to do is enjoy the scenery. Equipped with a direct transmission, the Zero XU is ideal for city traffic and greater efficiency. With the use of a new maintenance-free belt system, the Zero XU is able to reduce friction losses to a minimum. This increases range and optimizes power management for better top speed. The result is a motorcycle that's fun to ride and requires no routine maintenance
