presentation of the SR 2014
the Zero S "R" configuration is designed for electron motorcyclists who simply want to go faster and accelerate harder. Aptly named for its performance, the Zero SR features a more powerful motor control unit (660 amps) that delivers 24% more power, 56% more torque and 144 Nm. To cope with this surge in power, the Zero SR's motor uses higher-temperature magnets that ensure better performance over longer durations at higher speeds.
Capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in less than 4 seconds and reaching speeds of over 160 km/h thanks to direct drive, the Zero SR offers spirited riders a serious advantage in competition. The only bike in the range available in red. The motorcycle's tank area is highlighted by the sophisticated "Zero SR" emblem, and the rear end features the engine control unit with a bold, elegantly designed heatsink.
range of over 210 km / Service life of over 490,000 km
The 2014 Zero S relies on a new battery type and configuration. Not only does the ZF11.4 pack deliver ranges in excess of 210 km, it's also designed to last the life of the bike. The integrated charger minimizes charging time and can work in parallel with the rapid charger.
new Power Tank technology - up to 276 km in town
The Z-Force® Power Tank adds 2.8 kWh of battery capacity to all 2014 Zero S models. Available as an option, the Power Tank can be added at any time, when the motorcycle is purchased or at a later date. This extends the range to 276 km.
revolutionary Z-Force® engine - up to 67 hp, 144 Nm... and incredibly efficient
Zero Motorcycles has designed the Z-Force® engine down to the last detail, making it compact, efficient and powerful. It can reach a breathtaking top speed of 164 km/h, just like the Zero SR. Completely air-cooled, the engine is designed to give you a fantastic, maintenance-free riding experience. When you slow down, the motor generates energy which is fed back into the battery to extend range.
chassis and body
Aircraft-grade aluminum is used exclusively to build the Zero S's twin-spar frame. both strong and light, it gives the Zero S incredible agility. Designed to have a low center of gravity, the Zero S is highly maneuverable and responsive.
wheels and brakes
The Zero S is equipped with forged wheels optimized for weight and strength. They are specially developed and installed for this model. It features Nissin front brakes and a new rear caliper with a 240 mm disc.
suspension
The 43 mm inverted front fork features an external adjustment system for compression and rebound damping. at the rear, a rigid double "diamond" swingarm holds a rear shock fully adjustable for preload and rebound.
zero Motorcycles applications
Zero Motorcycles' new app gives you access to detailed information about your bike: charging time, average power in watts per kilometer, complete charging cycles and much more. When you're stationary, the app lets you set personalized parameters for top speed, maximum torque and maximum energy recovery when braking. While you're riding, your cell phone transforms into a personalized dashboard, providing you with detailed information about the bike in real time. Thanks to Bluetooth, the application works on iPhone and Android. It is available in English, German, French, Spanish and Dutch.
recharge anywhere, from any standard socket
The Zero S's charging system is integrated into the motorcycle and can be plugged into any standard socket. No additional equipment is required for standard charging. For those interested in fast charging, the CHAdeMO* accessory recharges the battery in just one hour (the bike recharges to 95% in almost an hour).

i'll try to answer your question
an internal combustion engine has poor efficiency, especially on a motorcycle. consuming 6 litres/100 for a machine weighing less than 200kg is really very bad
on the electric motor, we have motors with an efficiency of over 95% today, and if we manage friction losses properly, we can achieve a fair fuel consumption, depending on weight and aerodynamics
On a motorcycle, there are far fewer aerodynamic losses, which means less power consumption...
otherwise, I've been riding an SR for 2 years, and I'll never be able to get on a combustion engine again... yuck!

Worth looking into.
Better than a Twizy 80. Rating : 3/5 Respond to Herve46
Aesthetics close to those of a combustion engine, acceptable performance, even sufficient for normal use...
More progress to be made on recharging time and... price.
And there will be real competition between the electrics and the thermics. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Micka
