presentation of the SR 2018
Like the rest of the Zero range, the SR can now be charged much faster (optional). 6 times faster charging - The Charge Tank accessory adds up to 137 km of range to the Zero SR for every hour of charging when plugged into a Level 2 charging station. Coffee time now translates into around 50 km of driving. A full charge can be completed in an hour, depending on battery capacity.
maximum torque, performance and range.
with Zero Motorcycles' most powerful powertrain, the Zero SR is fast enough to accelerate past a Porsche 911. It offers 146 Nm of torque and can reach higher sustained top speeds thanks to an advanced engine and a higher-intensity motor controller.
Range (km): 288 city / 145 highway
z-Force® engine - Up to 52 kW net power, 146 Nm... and surprising efficiency
zero Motorcycles designed the Z-Force® engine from the ground up to be compact, efficient and powerful. It delivers exhilarating acceleration to a top speed of 164 km/h on the Zero SR. Fully air-cooled, the engine provides a fantastic driving experience with no routine maintenance. When you slow down, the motor generates electricity which is fed back into the power pack to increase range.
chassis and bodywork
the double-cradle frame is built exclusively from aircraft-grade aluminum. Lightweight and robust, it's one of the main reasons for the exceptional riding precision of these bikes. Designed to have a low center of gravity, the bikes are highly maneuverable and responsive. The refined appearance is rounded off by elegant bodywork with a modern, dynamic, stripped-back look. The body's fuel tank area features an integrated, lockable and removable storage compartment. The tank area can also be replaced by the Power Tank accessory for greater autonomy.
showa suspension
zero Motorcycles worked closely with Showa to develop the suspension systems. These effectively handle small bumps, predictably control larger impacts and smooth the action in all conditions. The rigid torsion of the front end offers improved handling, while the hollow front axle reduces unsprung weight. Suspension settings are fully customizable to meet the requirements of most riders.
wheels and ABS
the Zero SR features Bosch's advanced anti-lock braking system (ABS). The large 320 mm diameter unsupported front brake disc increases stopping power. The Zero SR is fitted with Pirelli tires that provide great traction, excellent durability and excellent road feel. The tires are mounted on elegant, durable cast-alloy wheels.
dashboard and controls
the instrument panel is designed by Zero to provide quick, useful and accurate information such as charge level, power output and selected riding profile. You can juggle the three riding modes using the ergonomic switch on the right to better determine your riding needs: sport, eco, custom. The dashboard display is a blue backlit LCD screen. It blends in perfectly with the front of the motorcycle. Want more information about your motorcycle while you're riding or at home? Try the Zero Motorcycles app.
zero Motorcycles applications
with the Zero Motorcycles app, you have access to detailed information about your motorcycle, such as remaining recharge time, average watts per kilometer, total recharge cycles and much more. When you're stationary, the app lets you set the performance profile of the customized riding mode, adjusting parameters for maximum speed, maximum torque and maximum regenerative braking. When you're riding your bike, your cell phone transforms into a personalized dashboard that gives you real-time, detailed information about your bike. Synchronized with Bluetooth, the application works on iPhone and Android-based mobile devices.
clutchless drive - Instant torque with just a little difference
featuring clutchless direct drive, the Zero S and Zero SR are designed for rapid acceleration and maximum efficiency. With its more efficient motor, the Zero SR benefits from higher gearing to reach a top speed of 150 km/h. With no need to shift gears, both models deliver controlled, powerful acceleration until you reach your desired speed. The carbon fiber belt eliminates minimal friction losses and increases overall range. What's more, it also plays a key role in eliminating powertrain maintenance and noise.
what about recharging?
zero Motorcycles' charging options are designed to suit your lifestyle. Every Zero motorcycle comes standard with a simple, lightweight cable for plugging into any household outlet.

i'll try to answer your question
an internal combustion engine has poor efficiency, especially on a motorcycle. consuming 6 litres/100 for a machine weighing less than 200kg is really very bad
on the electric motor, we have motors with an efficiency of over 95% today, and if we manage friction losses properly, we can achieve a fair fuel consumption, depending on weight and aerodynamics
On a motorcycle, there are far fewer aerodynamic losses, which means less power consumption...
otherwise, I've been riding an SR for 2 years, and I'll never be able to get on a combustion engine again... yuck!

Worth looking into.
Better than a Twizy 80. Rating : 3/5 Respond to Herve46
Aesthetics close to those of a combustion engine, acceptable performance, even sufficient for normal use...
More progress to be made on recharging time and... price.
And there will be real competition between the electrics and the thermics. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Micka
