presentation of the SR/F 2020
It's finally starting to look good. Zero Motorcycles may be the world leader in electric motorcycles, but its products have always been rather bland in style. This state of affairs changes completely with the new SR/F. At last, the design has some pluck, and that changes a lot of things. At last, you can look at a Zero not as an electric motorcycle, but as a roadster. And not an ugly one at that.
the SR/F is a real eye-catcher. The transformation of a toaster into a connected loudspeaker. Zero has quietly infused Japanese and European essences to serve up a concoction that's both tasty and electrifying. It doesn't yet have the grace of a Mission R or the suavity of Italian thermal production, but it's a work in progress.
The front end is a pleasure to behold. A glimpse of the Marchesini-type rims makes the retina open a little wider, then the 43 mm Showa inverted forks set the tone for firm, serious steering. Let's linger over a choice piece with the large 320 mm metal rollers. Okay, the SR/F wants to cause a stir on the braking front, entrusting the bite to 4-piston radial calipers. Except... don't count on Brembo, but on J. Juan. Without denigrating the Spanish calipers, given the price of the bike, the brand could have installed an Italian reference.
you'd almost forget the large battery housed in the tubular steel trellis frame. This can provide a range of 132 km on the freeway (at 113 km/h) up to 259 km in town - or even over 320 km with the addition of the Power Tank.
The 14.4 kWh battery sends its energy to the new ZF75-10 motor. The results: 110 hp at 5,000 rpm. Truly interesting figures, but not the most important for this type of motorization. Torque is more enticing. Hold the handlebars firmly at the throttle, as no less than 19.3 mkg of torque will rip the trim off. Not even the biggest Harleys or Indians develop that much.

how long will it take to recharge? Not too long, if you choose the best version. The Rapid Charge System provides a platform for up to three independent charging modules. All installed, they deliver 0-95% capacity in 1 hour. Otherwise, in these classic conditions, you're looking at 4 hours. Add ½ hour to get up to speed.
this electric 'streetfighter' also plays on the man/machine relationship. It starts with a dashboard illustrated by a 12.5 cm color LCD screen. Then, with its Cypher III interface, the bike is connected. Thanks to this OS and the paired app, you can monitor a whole host of parameters on charging, whether the bike has been waffled or if someone has moved it, where it is, log its routes, and so on. where it is, log its routes(the bike records the machine's location, speed, angle of inclination, power, torque, state of charge and energy consumed/regenerated), share them and update the system. It's free for two years.
the Zero Motorcycles SR/F represents a major evolution in the manufacturer's offering. Powerful, attractive, connected, with a willing chassis and even a charging system when all the right conditions are met, it is nevertheless (as always) priced at a hefty premium. Not as much as the Harley LiveWire, but enough to make you hesitate with a hypersport.
