presentation of the SB8R 1999
italians know how to make exceptional machines, with passionate character and captivating plastic. Bimota, a small manufacturer, knows how to do just that, and proves it once again with this sublime SB8R. A compact, lightweight machine with alluring attributes. The engine is the twin-cylinder of the Suzuki TL 1000 R, redesigned to deliver more power. More aggressive on the Bimota, it's also smoother and more vigorous than Ducati's 996. This concentrate of gniak is housed in an ultra-stiff frame made up of 2 aluminum-carbon spars. The fairing and air intake ducts are also in carbon, the fuel tank in nylon, and the peripherals come from the best manufacturers.
brembo's top-notch brakes have no trouble stopping this lightweight twin sports bike. The Öhlins shock absorber offers real comfort and greater efficiency than the TLR, especially when cornering and accelerating. As for the Paioli inverted fork, it offers an excellent feel. The SB8R is easy to ride, yet very efficient, stiff and stable under braking. No compromises on board: it's racing! Protection is non-existent, the seat is a mouse pad, and the sensations are exclusive. If your wallet is well-stocked, treat yourself to the super-luxe version. 15,000 frs (€2,290) more, but carbon and titanium galore.
