presentation of the F 900 XR Sport Edition 2024
Some time ago, BMW proposed a small promotional offer on a few models with the "Shifter Edition" Shifter Edition". A little spotlight to help the sales momentum. Competition is fierce in the mid-size segment, and any help is welcome.
BMW France kept the idea in stock, to adapt it in 2024 for a more developed range. The result was the F 900 XR Sport Edition. The term is a tad pompous, as this F 900 XR is no more powerful than the standard model. No optimized suspension, no extra horsepower, no improved chassis or velcro tires. The sport is in the eyes, the virtues are in the pockets.
With its bubble shrouded in crespuscule and its specific deep-black deco with flashes of red and blue, the machine smells of the "M" - a false pretense, intended solely to convey an overexcited image. And it works! Anyone who sees it would swear this model belongs to the sulphurous M 1000 R, RR and XR family. The plumage is in the racing aspect, while the ramage is in the equipment, for this is a multi-level, over-equipped edition.
The Sport Edition lets you choose between two trim levels. The first, which gives the machine its name, contains the "Active" and "Comfort" packs. These include: luggage racks, Pro riding mode (Dynamic and Dynamic Pro), heated grips, ABS Pro, Dynamic DTC traction control, MSR engine brake torque regulation, center stand, Endurance M chain, Keyless ride and ESA Dynamic.
The second concentrates all the packs available for the 900 XR. The Sport Edition Pro combines all the elements above, adding GPS preparation, alarm, cruise control, Pro high beam with cornering light, tire pressure monitoring, hand guards, Up&Down shifter and intelligent emergency call. The SC Project SC1-R titanium exhaust shown in the photos is an option, priced at €1,080.

driving modes:
- The " Road " mode offers optimum throttle admission, and the ABS Pro and DTC systems are able to deliver ideal performance on all roads. Here, too, the MSR is in maximum position.
- In " Rain " mode, the throttle is soft, and the ABS Pro and DTC systems take account of road conditions in their adjustment characteristics, when the road is wet and therefore more slippery. MSR engine braking torque control provides maximum assistance.
- In " Dynamic " mode, the engine is tuned for optimum throttle response, and the DTC and ABS Pro systems are adapted to high coefficients of friction on the road, with take-off detection for the front and rear wheels coming into play only at a later stage. Intervention of the MSR engine braking torque control is also reduced. The default setting for Dynamic ESA - where available - is the "Dynamic" shock absorber setting.
- The " Dynamic Pro " mode offers the very sporty rider every opportunity to adapt the machine optimally to his own wishes and needs. Three throttle characteristics, three ABS settings and four DTC settings are available. The level of intervention of the control systems can thus be adapted as desired to a very sporty driving style, up to and including deactivation of the take-off assistants and very late intervention of all control systems.
