Between its single-cylinder trails and its majestic “big” GS, BMW had to fill a gap. Especially in a mid-size trail market that has become considerably denser and stronger. Launched with a vertical twin, the F 800 GS offered an off-road-oriented format without the price tag or bulk of its big sister. It gradually evolved into the 850 and then the 900, without abandoning its fundamentals.
