presentation of the F 800 R 2014

what did you do in 2012?!? A little facelift. I'd been wearing the same clothes since 2009, so I wanted a change. That's what the F 800 R said when her friends accosted her at a bend here. It continued with a virolo here, and the BMW roadster teased without pretension. Tough competition, the voracity of Husqvarna's new Nuda 900 cousin, horsepower madness... None of this has shaken the F 800 R, which remains unchanged for 2013, apart from the new color collection.

BMW F 800 R 2014 - 1BMW F 800 R 2014 - 1

do you mean...? I mean the same engine, the same chassis, the same bike in technical terms. The twin remains the 798 cm3 it debuted on the F 800 S and ST. A nice but discreet engine, well supported by a sporty sound that's very pleasant when you take it up to higher revs. This twin-cylinder engine reveals a much more sparkling face in the second half of the rev counter.
Same chassis: agile, efficient, good braking and easy to tame. This F 800 R phase 2 evolves only in terms of shoulders and finish. New, more imposing side panels give the roadster more cachet, while hiding the radiator. The front mudguard is now painted body color, the turn signals are white, and Béhème now supplies the sport windscreen as standard. ABS is available as an option, as is the possibility of flirting with youth: the engine can be quieted down in the A2 48 hp version.

Great bike, very versatile, easy to handle, great as a duo. Rating : 4/5

bought used in may 2018 with 11000 km !! she has 30000 km to date.
2012 model. I'm coming out of an r 1150 r
which had 150,000 km. I'm 62 years old.
i drive in the 04.

the

in 1st its maneuverability with the stop.qu\ it facility for the manÅ"uvres slow.. and the half turns tjrs shit on the road.
easy to drive, a bike, but even the 1150 was easy to ride.

negative points :
a small hole between 3500 and 4000, not very peachy, but with a little practice, you can forget about it.
the pot's noise wasn't great,
the chain and its maintenance, when you've been riding with a cardan shaft for 30 years...
be careful with the petrol when you run out, it stalls easily.

otherwise, nothing but happiness ... easy bike.

October 2013 sale of the Kawa... November purchase of my dulcinea F800r millesime 2012.
it's "La Moto\"... nothing to do with the jap\'s so easy to handle that I feel rejuvenated once I'm in the saddle.
June I'm off to Corsica, where... i bought myself some ground-level turns (at my age!!) and for the duo, my wife, in August in Spain, made the discovery that "your bike is comfortable", coming from her, it's consecration!
one word... buy it and the pleasure of motorcycling will return...

Hello everyone, I'm 60 years old and after having stopped riding for 30 years I've just bought an F800R, which has changed since my R75/5! What is its behaviour with the Ermax bubble?
I'm also looking for a tank protector, what do you think of Bagstere?
Bonne route!
see you when I've tamed the beast.

hello,
i've fitted an ERMAX bubble and I'm very satisfied from an aesthetic point of view, value for money, and what's more I can ride at up to 120 km/h without lowering my head, so it's all to the good

Bought new, I immediately began a special relationship with this machine. I love the look, the engine, the bike-like handling and the noise.
In short, you've got it, for me this is a super bike that will give you complete satisfaction. I only have one regret: not having bought one sooner!

Nice new look, but the front headlamp assembly is still far too hodgepodge for my taste. It looks like a DIY job, unworthy of a factory like BMW. Rating : 4/5
Superb bike and what elegance in its black dress. Equipped with an Ermax bubble and panniers, it's perfect for travelling. I bought it in April 2013. Rating : 5/5
French rene Model 2013
A very good roadster, powerful (87 not 97hp) and comfortable, which can be converted into a road bike with the right accessories. The rider's knees are better protected thanks to the generous new scoops, and duo riding is possible quite comfortably, unlike many other roadsters. The engine is both smooth and responsive at all engine speeds. A must-try before rushing out to buy a trendy roadster. Rating : 5/5

yes I wanted to try it but bmw motorad told me it wasn't possible because I don't have two years of licence but I'm 40 years old (A licence since 1 year and 20000 klm on the odometer )so I'm not subject to the 35 hp law!
When I'm told that to try it is to adopt it, it makes me laugh!
On the other hand, other Japanese brands aren't so sectarian. The funniest thing is that they told me it's the same regardless of the engine size BMW MOTORAD TINQUEUX in the Marne !

Hi Eric,
I guess they don't know at this BM dealership the intricacies of the old and new licenses. In that case, they could have informed themselves on the net, unless the salesman was given strict instructions. That's how you lose a potential customer. I've had worse problems than this, and I'm not about to trust the brand again. Too bad, because the F800s are good bikes. You've also got the Yam Fz8, which is a good roadster, and a good compromise too.

excellent bike, very easy to handle, light. the more I ride it, the more I enjoy it. I really don't regret my purchase. I bought it new in May 2012 and I'm 58 years old. Rating : 5/5
French rene Model 2012
I've had the F800s - see my review of that bike - and I had the opportunity to try out the older vintage of this F800r. Despite the loss of the belt drive, and wider roadster handlebars, the same basic qualities remain, i.e. a bike with an interesting volume to match its surprising lightness, exemplary balance, a tolerant and pleasant engine (which gains torque at low revs over thousands of kilometers, and power at higher revs), and (very) welcome comfort for a roadster, whether alone or in pairs. The larger scoops provide better protection for knees and legs. A more complete and versatile bike than it looks, and that's if you don't use freeways too much because of the lack of protection for the fork head (unless you find a better solution). Apart from the engine's less-than-perfect sound, which will be improved by the optional Akra pot, you'll have a happy, economical bike (less than 5l/100kms and serviced every 10,000kms). The only downside is chain maintenance, but if you have the optional stand, or if not, a workshop stand, it'll do the job nicely. For more roadworthy and easier maintenance (belt!) you can fall back on the pretty F800st still in the catalog and the second-hand F800s if you can afford it. I recommend it if you have a competent dealer. Rating : 5/5
