bMW roadsters have always started with a large displacement. With the exception of the R 850 R, a downsized version of the R 1150 R. So it came as quite a surprise when BMW decided to go mid-size roadster hunting. Its challenger was the F 800 R, a close cousin of the S, ST and GS models.
its in-line twin-cylinder engine develops 87 hp on release. In 2015, the F 800 R gets a facelift, improves its chassis and increases its watts to 90 hp.
in 2020, the bike takes a major step forward. It arrives at the same time as a crossover version, the F 900 XR. The twin is upgraded to 895 cm3 for 105 hp.
whether in 800 or 900, the F is priced relatively close to the competition. But with a few (almost unavoidable) options, the price quickly returns to BMW's usual level.
