The NineT Urban G/S has one advantage over its siblings: it bears the BMW trail emblem. As a result, there's also a 40th anniversary version.
All NineTs have passed Euro5 and have taken the opportunity to improve a little. New cylinder heads, reinforced torque curve, riding modes (Rain and Road) - USB connection - ABS Pro as standard, revised suspension, LED headlight, new options. The trail version takes possession with a wealth of equipment in this special edition.
Composed of yellow and black, like all the other '40s' GS models, the décor is buzzing with nostalgia. It's impossible to stay cool in front of this black sun. Then it's time to discover what else this edition has to offer. First of all, beautiful gold-spoke rims encircle off-road tires. The two-tone seat features an embroidered GS logo. Underneath, the exhaust system changes from end to end: the manifold is chrome-plated, then the gases come out through a double muffler borrowed from the Scrambler.
Ostentatious features include milled cylinder head covers and a Shadow seat support from the Option 719 collection. Finally, the bike receives the Comfort Pack, including cruise control, heated grips and Pro riding modes. With it, the Urban G/S benefits from the new, more intense Dirt Mode, traction control and MSR engine torque regulation.
Whatever the GS model, the 40 Years finish takes a big ladleful of what BMW has to offer. The result is a rapidly escalating price tag, while ensuring a luxurious... no, lush feel for each recipient. With this NineT, we haven't finished sizing up the question.
