presentation of the 1200 R NineT 100 Years 2023
There's a striking number on this bike. It's 1923, and it refers to its distribution, its rarity almost. Less than 2,000 examples of this NineT will be produced. But why? It has nothing to do with its displacement, nor its year of creation..
Because this bike celebrates the centenary of BMW Motorrad. After the First World War, BMW was no longer allowed to produce aircraft engines (its core business). So the company started making motorcycles. In 1923, the R32 was released, launching the German manufacturer into the bubbling field of two-wheelers.
After this episode of Maitre Capelo, let's get down to business. The R NineT 100 Years is extensively decked out in commemorative finery. The tuxedo is de rigueur, with chrome in profusion instead of white for the shirt. Mixed on the tank and retro-sport seat cover, this coating explodes the light for a traditional presentation. An unmistakable shine on a black coat, whispered with white piping.
Remarkable , in the literal sense of the word. But before showing off its talents and the surges of its 109-hp boxer engine, the R NineT highlights the "719 Options" it has given itself. Among these, the milled aluminum cylinder head covers are the most visible. They are part of the "Billet Pack Shadow", which also includes a similarly treated front crankcase cover, seat supports and oil filler cap.
Added to this is the second "Shadow" milled parts pack, with adjustable rider levers and footrests, handlebar end mirrors, clutch and brake jar covers and passenger footrests.

The 100 Years edition also features knee grips, a two-tone black/oxblood saddle and the PRO trim level. Technology enthusiasts will appreciate cruise control, Pro riding modes, adaptive cornering light, on-board alarm, traction control (in place of ASC traction control), engine torque regulation and heated grips.
All in all, the now more luxurious R NineT offers 3 riding modes (Rain / Road / Dyna), curve-active ABS Pro, a USB socket, the electronic incrementation seen in the previous chapter, and the standard model equipment: all-round adjustable S 1000 R forks, Brembo 4-piston brakes on 320 mm discs, single-arm with cardan drive, removable passenger frame and dual side mufflers.
In the center of the tank, between the chrome shoulder blades, a celebratory badge adorns this neo-retro roadster. As an over-equipped limited edition, the R NineT 100 Years takes a serious hit on the price front.
Do you prefer custom? No problem, the R18 is also available in a 100 Years version. Another trip for other roads.
