presentation of the 700 MT 2024

Can today's trail bikes be summed up in a single definition? Probably not, given the number of different interpretations offered by manufacturers. What was the trail bike? Originally, a dirt bike. Nowadays, there are touring and on-road iterations.

The CF Moto 700 MT falls into the latter category. A kind of motorcycle that's good at everything, but not particularly good at anything. And do you know what MT stands for? Multifunction Touring!

In fact, it's a bit like a car: we've gone from 4x4 to SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle). The road trail (a fine oxymoron) is a kind of motorcycle that perches higher up so you can see well, is relatively comfortable and can still go (a little) everywhere..

kiska for design

In fact, the 700 MT is a major update of the 650. The latter was designed by Kiska Design, which works extensively for KTM. So you won't be surprised to find a few similarities with an Austrian motorcycle. In terms of styling, there are many points in common with the 650 MT, such as the full LED optics. On the other hand, the brand has taken care to extensively modify the side fairings to improve protection of the upper legs. And while we're on the subject of protection, the bubble can be adjusted to two levels, and looks rather generous. Hands will also appreciate the fixed protectors on the handlebars.

CFMoto 700 MT and while we're on the subject of comfort, the saddle isn't too high up, at 820 mm from the ground. Taller riders will appreciate that CF Moto also offers an 840 mm version. An attention to detail to enhance ergonomics at the handlebars.

The instrument panel features a 5-inch TFT color display, replacing the 650's aging LCD unit. This instrument panel offers a wide range of functions, including instantaneous fuel consumption, ambient temperature (in addition to engine temperature), fuel gauge, kickstand indicator, and is also linked to your phone via a Bluetooth connection. Your phone will be delighted to know that it has a USB-a and USB-c socket for recharging.

Chassis: nothing new, still with that Kawasaki Versys feel

Like its 650 sibling, the 700 MT uses a tubular steel chassis, contrary to what the large side plates would lead you to believe. No aluminum perimeter frame. From its shape, to the style of its aluminum swingarm, to the anchoring of the shock absorber, a good look at this bike tells you that CF Moto's engineers must have stripped a Kawa 650 Versys to the bone. It has to be said that the Japanese Swiss army knife was seductive for its road-holding qualities.

The front suspension is a 43 mm inverted hydraulic fork, with adjustable preload and rebound damping and 140 mm travel. At the rear, a monoshock shock absorber, also adjustable for preload and rebound, gives it the edge. Its travel is 45 mm. Ground clearance is 170 mm.

CFMoto 700 MT braking is handled by J.Juan (Brembo's Chinese subsidiary). The front is equipped with a 300 mm double disc, bitten by 2-piston calipers with ABS. The rear makes do with a 240 mm disc, clamped by a single-piston caliper with ABS.

The tires are also Chinese, CST Ride Migra S1s, totally unknown to the public. They are mounted on 17-inch rims, 120 at the front and 160 at the rear. Their profile is very road-like, with not a single stud to be seen!

The overall weight is announced at around 218 kg, comparable to that of competitors such as the Suzuki V-Strom and Kawasaki Versys. The fuel tank capacity is 18 liters.

Engine: power under control

At the heart of this 700 MT is a 693 cm3, 180° parallel twin. To achieve 67 hp at 9,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 68 Nm at 6,500 rpm (sharp), CF Moto has increased the 650's engine by 43 cm3. While the increase in displacement may seem marginal, the power output jumps by 10 hp. This extra power will be very useful for busy trips or cruising on the freeway. Of course, this engine complies with Euro5 standards, and is claimed to have an average fuel consumption of 4.9L/100km. Transmission is via a 6-speed gearbox, with final drive via a chain.

CFMoto 700 MT behind its modern styling, this trailer is driven the old-fashioned way. There are no electronic assistants (traction control, etc.), no mapping of driving modes, and the gas pedal is connected to the engine by cable. The aim is to keep the price down.

Price-wise!

At 6,990 euros, there's no point sparing any suspense. The major advantage for the career of this 700 cm3 motorcycle (remember) is its price, which defies all competition for this level of comfort and performance. The scarecrow of the category, the Yamaha Tracer 7, retails for 9,299 euros, which shows the gulf between these two bikes in terms of price, and perhaps not so much in terms of sensations on the handlebars... CF Moto strikes hard to reassure modest budgets that are fearful of the second-hand market. What's more, the bike comes with a 5-year warranty (up to 60,000 km).

French Model 2024
Hello, after 3000 km and 03 months of use, this is a machine that does the job. Bought new at 5990 euros, no regrets at this price. It's my 2nd bike, the one I use every day to go to work (30km of more or less winding roads). It doesn't have the punch of my Triumph Speed triple, but that's not what I ask of it ;-). Maneuverable, economical (I'm running at 5.2l/100) when riding dynamically. The original tires hold up well in the dry, but feel strange in the wet (blurred feeling). Led lighting is correct at night. The seat is comfortable and the protection rather good, with the bubble set to maximum (I'm 1.81m tall). I opted for the side cases, which can hold 2 full-face helmets. In short, this is a very good Swiss Army knife for the price/performance ratio. I bought it without trying it out, and I don't regret it one bit. Rating : 5/5

Hi everyone!!!
Here are my impressions following the purchase of this new machine equipped with the "touring" pack... Well, the look is nice, that's obvious! The big FT makes an impact. It's by far the best compromise for a mid-size all-rounder!
The best value for money on the market. Very maneuverable, I'd just criticize its very limited steering angle. 70 grunts is no war thunderbolt, but it does the job. 9000 km since January 2024, nothing to report! CF moto is a well-known and recognized brand around the world, but not so much on the old continent, it's true... It's likely to be complicated at resale... to be continued... Motardement votre !!!

After having hesitated on various models, my choice fell on 700 MT. Bridé a2 jeune permis a 60 ans. I have had it since the beginning of June 2024 and to date it has covered 6600 km. I'm making up for lost time. I find the saddle rather comfortable Lyon, la Rochelle 600km done in a day. No particular pain. Very good wind protection. I regularly go out for 300km rides, and once you've got the hang of the tires, there's no problem putting it on the corner, but not too much either. It's a bike with two faces. Smooth ride and, if you feel like it, a lot more dynamic, provided you keep up the revs. Good re-acceleration in the last 3 gears. Good braking, but the ABS kicks in too quickly on hard braking, and if you also drop a gear, you get a nice rear-wheel wrap. The throttle lacks a little precision. I can confirm injection cut-off at 7000 rpm A2 . Lack of responsiveness in the first 3 gears. Negotiated 6500€ New. so YES, if I had to do it all over again, I'd buy the same bike without hesitation. It's still a very good bike to start with. Thank you for taking the time to read me. Bonne route et prenez soin de vous. Rating : 4/5
after 5000 kms ,no problems, machine that requires revs a hole between 4500 and 5000 rpm road acceptable (by comparison with a 650 f bmw ).a little torque would be welcome , consumption 4.8L (average over 5000 kms).hard seat little bearable above 250 kms.very good braking, pleasant suspension and good range of adjustment.led lights a little light when riding at night on unpainted roads .no choice of color for the bike.delivered in promo with suitcases this bike a very good compromise .good value for money in conclusion . Hello, I've owned this nice bike for 2 months now, excellent nowhere but excellent for everything: work, touring, travel, thanks to its suitcases. I left my Africa 1000 dct due to a lack of budget and have no regrets, the CST tires are good everywhere, dry or wet, now those who are against Chinese-made bikes will find all the faults in it, but owners will appreciate it, the only small downside for me is a bit of vibration at idle Rating : 5/5
French Model 2024
Hello, I've had this 700 MT 2024 for 1 month, I bought it new and it's been a blast, I recommend it especially for A2s. It's got torque, length and a good size, not too big and not too small. The only hick! It's the shifter that cuts in at 7500rpm on A2s, and it doesn't go beyond 150 on A2s either. Price-wise, that's why I bought it new, because the second-hand ones on the Tracer 700 were the same price. The original-fit tires really hold up! Don't put your knees on it because it's still original. I hope my opinion will be useful. Rating : 4/5
