presentation of the Tracer 7 2023
The Tracer 7 was in need of a technological update after seeing its rivals strengthen their performance. So Yam sends the geeks to the development department. This is immediately apparent with the appearance of a USB socket and 12V power supply around the new dashboard. A handsome 5-inch color TFT screen has been installed under the bubble, with plenty of buddies to keep it company: Bluetooth connectivity, two display themes (Street or Touring), smartphone notifications, info on the life of the wheel, MyRide app, etc, etc....
The little Tracer also wanted a shifter, but Yamaha only offers pre-wiring. You'll have to pay a small fee to get lightning gear shifting. On the other hand, a better front drivetrain is standard. But how? With revised fork settings and improved braking. Like the MT-07 a short while ago, the Tracer 7 gains larger discs, up from 282 mm to 298 mm.
Having seen the R1 make its mark on the sportbike scene and attract a lot of attention, some members of the Yamaha family are getting hungry. One of them is to have the same look. The Tracer 7 is in this vein, and has undergone cosmetic surgery while taking great care to retain its identity. The result is an extension of the manufacturer's style.
Equipped with the first Euro 5 version of the sparkling CP2, a 689 cm³ twin, this model takes things to a new level. Featuring a dynamic new look and the best power-to-weight ratio in its class, the Tracer 7 is designed to deliver a great deal of thrills.

Equipped with dual LED position lights and LED headlights, the Tracer 7 boasts a modern, aggressive look.
The front end gives it a much bolder look. Blending in with the fuel tank cover, this aerodynamic fairing offers wind and weather protection for enhanced comfort over long distances. The front mudguard follows this design direction to enhance the bike's style.
689 cm³ CP2 engine
The Tracer 7 is powered by a 689 cm³ crossplane twin, one of Yamaha's most popular engines. What makes this engine so special is its 270° crankshaft, which provides an ignition sequence at irregular intervals, delivering linear torque that responds directly to rider acceleration.
Since 2020, this engine has been enriched with optimized injection and ignition parameters, a redesigned air intake, optimized exhaust parameters and a modified exhaust system, enabling it to exceed EU5 standards.
With maximum power of 73.4 hp at 8,750 rpm and maximum torque of 6.9 mkg at 6,500 rpm, the Tracer 7's engine offers a thrilling riding experience. The wide torque variation guarantees strong acceleration, with a modified secondary gear ratio for an even more responsive model.
lightest in its class, best power-to-weight ratio
Featuring a lightweight tubular frame and aluminum swingarm with an extended wheelbase (+10 mm) of 1,460 mm, this Tracer's compact chassis is one of the most agile in the Sport Touring class. With the lowest all-up weight in its class, just 196 kg, combined with its exhilarating engine, the "7" offers the best power-to-weight ratio.

To enable Tracer 7 owners to explore the bike's full potential, the new model is equipped with an improved 41 mm cartridge-type fork. Spring rates have been adjusted to optimize handling. This model features adjustable shock absorber rebound and preload. Thanks to the adjustable shock absorber, the bike is easy to configure to suit different rider weights and road conditions.
aerodynamic windscreen with one-hand adjustment
The Tracer 7 is equipped with a slim aerodynamic bubble, with superior optical quality. With just one hand, the height of the bubble can be adjusted by over 60 mm. In addition, handguards offer extra protection against wind and weather.
upright riding position
The Tracer 7 is designed for an upright riding position. It features 34 mm wider handlebars, in the middle of which you can attach accessories. Like the shape of the seat, the handlebar improves ergonomics for greater comfort and control over long distances.
curved two-seater for rider and passenger comfort
Whether riding solo or as a duo, the one-piece saddle offers enhanced comfort for both rider and passenger. It offers greater freedom in the choice of riding position. The front section integrates perfectly with the fuel tank and fairing to provide a firm grip at knee level, while the curved profile provides better support for the rider during acceleration.
The rear of the seat is slightly higher, offering a more comfortable position for the passenger. The saddle also features details such as stitching that add a touch of style.

Compact LED indicators have been installed. At the front, they are integrated under the handguards.

Maintenance
The motorcycle's clutch doesn't disengage completely, causing the Yamaha to move forward even with the lever pulled.
As the corrosion inhibitor reacts with the worn material of the friction plate, a viscous substance can form under the effect of heat. The clutch may then fail to disengage (even when the lever is pulled), causing it to drag. The vehicle may start up unexpectedly with a gear engaged, even if the clutch is pulled, increasing the risk of injury.

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 11 reviews
But generally speaking, I'd come home from work wondering how long I'd keep my license, or sometimes life ;) I tried out a tracer 9 for more comfort, but the same thing happened: a permanent urge to commit a crime.
In the end, I opted for a tracer 7. Great riding position, less headaches with the electronics on a clear, accentuating dashboard. Despite a "first-time rider" image linked to the mt-07, I find this bike a real success, with a precise, comfortable chassis and a super-playful cp2 engine.
All in all, I've found a well-balanced bike that suits my needs: fast lanes, city riding and short weekend rides. Do we really need anything more? The future will tell, but in the meantime I think this bike is great! Take care bikers! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Hedayz
I bought it new, and with a few options I lightened my load by 11 KEur (with the registration, heated grips, top case and USB... At 35 euros! A bit petty at yam..
But no regrets, this bike is great in town, comfortable in its position (I'm 1m85) and super agile in the mountains, so I don't regret my purchase..
Only one regret, but that's the meaning of the story: the noise of the original 103 spx! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Dg74
The CP2 in Euro 5 is hyper torquey despite the loss of 2hp (from memory) compared to the 2019 Tracer 700. The bike is full LED, which is a plus in my opinion, although the R1-style front lighting is either good or bad...
The negative point: the bubble, which tends to send air back between the chin (low position) and the forehead (high position) for me (1m76). To be seen with the Touring bubble
The handlebar-mounted computer control is a nice touch (so you don't have to take your hands off the handlebars to switch from TRIP to real-time fuel consumption)
Yamaha doesn't offer a GT range, but 4 equipment pack ranges (Travel / Week-end / Urban / Sport).
Actual combined fuel consumption: 5L/100km (enough to go over 300km on a full tank). Rating : 4/5 Respond to CPRQ
