presentation of the 700 MT 2025

CFMoto is radically upgrading its 700 cm3 trail bike for 2025. Farewell to the slippery, road-going look of the previous model for a more trail-oriented style. Features that give the bike character, and inspiration that CF Moto didn't go far to find. The 700 bears a strong resemblance to the 800 MT from the same company, which has enjoyed a far more successful career than the 700.

The mission is clear: to breathe new life into a technical base that is evolving less ... The recipe is tempting: a trail bike with a good looks close to 7,000 euros, on paper it's very seductive.

Short beak

As we said in the introduction, this 700 has a distinctly sandier feel than the previous model. The CFMoto DNA is there, as you'll need to be an expert on the Chinese manufacturer to differentiate the 700 from the 800 at first glance. In fact, the front end is very similar between the 800 and the 700. On the new 700, you'll find the signature CF Moto trail light, as well as the fairing that ends in a small beak. At the top of the front, the bubble is adjustable to offer a little more protection. The fuel tank has a bulging front end, with generous protection and fairings. But it's more than just an optical effect, as the tank offers a range of 20 liters, or around 400 km from fill-up to last drop.

The rear end is more classic, in keeping with the trail spirit, but there are a number of things to appreciate. The double-decker seat gives real independence to the passenger, and the bike is generously equipped with a luggage rack or pre-installation for suitcases. Front crash bars are also standard. Aluminum luggage is available as an option.

The riding position has also been redesigned, with wide handlebars for an upright, seated riding position, and higher handlebars for off-road control. Hand protectors are also standard on these handlebars, a good feature not only for off-road riding, but also in winter, when wind and rain are effectively deflected from the controls. Heavy riders always appreciate this kind of detail. And while we're on the subject of cold weather, the 700 MT is equipped with a heated seat and heated grips.

The final touch that changes the look of the bike is the new spoked wheels. They not only look good, but are also more suitable for off-road use, given their technical characteristics. With a diameter of 19" at the front and 17" at the rear, they are fitted with mixed 110/80 and 150/70 tires.

The dashboard features a tire pressure monitoring system known as TPM. The instrument panel features a 5-inch TFT screen. The full-color screen displays all useful driving information. There are also 2 USB type A and C sockets.

Electronics still limited

The engine base of the 700 MT has changed little. It's a 693 cm3 vertical twin, delivering maximum power of 67 hp at 9500 rpm and torque of 60 Nm at 6000 rpm.

It's not a firecracker, but it's willing to go the distance, and offers some length. There are no driving modes with or without a cable throttle. The price has to be kept in check for this economical version of the big MTs. Dual-channel ABS and traction control (TCS) take care of tricky situations. They can also be disconnected.

Like the engine, the chassis is unchanged. The technical base remains the same, reminiscent of Kawasaki's early Versys 650. The frame is a tubular steel trellis with an aluminum "banana" swingarm. Suspension is provided by a shock absorber that is always offset to the side. Preload and rebound are adjustable. At the front, a 43 mm inverted fork is fully adjustable.

New on the braking front, while J.Juan is still the equipment supplier, this 2025 version features radial rather than axial calipers.

A contemporary product, 2,000 euros cheaper than the competition

With the new stature offered by its design, this CF Moto 700 MT version 2025 is impressive. You get what you pay for, and even if technically it's not the sharpest machine on the market, for those who don't intend to take it out into the desert, this trail bike is sure to please. The Suzuki V-Strom 650, which up to now has played this role, is not looking too kindly on it. The Japanese model is priced at 8,999 euros!

Top bike, superbly equipped, agile and easy to handle, unbeatable price, very good finish.
Weight 240 kgs in running order. Very good bike for beginners or even for experienced riders who don't want to spend €10,000 or more on a new bike.

French Model 2025
240kg running order. 258kg unladen. Small inversion. 20 liters of fuel. The bike is still very heavy for a 700. Otherwise a fine machine, but they don't want to make light bikes. Too bad. The price difference is calculated in kilos. Rating : 3/5
Weight error
French Model 2025
There must be an error on the dry weight in your data sheet... Higher than the operating weight! Otherwise good article. They're doing a great job right now CFMOTO Rating : 3/5
