presentation of the Monster 30° Anniversario 2024
Some thirty years ago, a group of guys in a factory scrapyard assembled a sports bike engine (900 SS) within the framework of a competition wheel(Superbike 888), under the design of a certain Miguel Galluzzi. On seeing the result, one of the protagonists nicknamed him "mostro". And bang! It didn't make any Chocapic, but it did give birth to a new category of machine: the sporty roadster, with character and composure. The MONSTER... or Mostro, or Monstro as it was sometimes called.
So, it's been 30 years since the Monster arrived on the market, with a number of variants enabling the most urban of motorcyclists(600 Monster) to the most violent of riders(Monster 1200 R) to have fun on the roads. Ducati is now launching a 30°anniversario version, with more equipment and a highly symbolic design.
The Italian flag takes over the roadster, while green, red and white take on a graphic, sporty air. It's a beautiful, edgy, flattering experience for the rider, who is delighted to contemplate this bike before taking possession and abusing its power.
A good special series must have bonuses. In Italy, land of haute-couture, fine food and mechanical surprises, good taste is a matter of custom. This is reflected in the red "30°" embroidery on the saddle, the seat cover with matching decoration, the small windscreen adorned with the national flag and the Marchesini forged aluminum wheels. The wheels are specific to this version, with a gold finish and an exclusive spoked design.
The 30th Anniversary Monster also knows how to extend a warm welcome, with a dedicated animation when the dashboard lights up. Its preciousness is further enhanced by the certificate of authenticity and dedicated cover supplied with the bike. Each model has its own limited edition number engraved on the upper fork crown. 500 examples, also featuring an Öhlins steering damper, carbon front and rear mudguards and special decorative elements.
Ducati is particularly fond of this tri-colour dress. It's been used on the 25th, 20th Anniversary and S4Rs Tricolore Monster models, several sports bike versions(Panigale V4 Speciale, 1299 Panigale S Anniversario, 1098 S Tricolore, 851) and even Valentino Rossi's Desmosedici GP12. It has to be said that this suits this Monster SP very well indeed.
Indeed, the "Trenta Anniversario" is based on the most efficient Monster ever built. This includes an Öhlins NIX 30 inverted fork and shock absorber - for a higher level of road feel, a pair of Termignoni carbon mufflers (providing 4% more power), Brembo Stylema brake calipers, a Li-Ion battery and reduced weight. With a further bonus: this edition boasts 164 kilos dry weight, 2 less than the SP.

The 1993 M900 had no electronics. Today, the chips and algorithms enable it to act with a shifter, traction and wheeling control, 3 riding modes, cornering ABS, a stop-start assistant, a USB socket, a 4.3" color TFT screen, LEDs everywhere and automatic stop indicators.
Over 350,000 Monsters have been sold in 30 years. The 500 units of the 30° Anniversario edition will be sold out without difficulty, as the market is fond of limited editions. Even at abominable prices. This is only half the case with this bike, far from the delirium of a Lamborghini Streetfighter , but knocked out of the ballpark by 3,900 euros more than the Monster SP.
