presentation of the 1450 SOFTAIL DELUXE FLSTN 2005
The Softail Deluxe is an invitation to beautiful things. A deliciously retro machine that's always ready to please. With its whitewall tires fitted to beautiful spoked rims, and its elegant two-tone paintwork, the Harley captivates the eye and beckons to the past. The Softail's styling is inspired by the post-war era. Chunky mudguards, chrome galore, stylized blinkers and triple-lensed eyes, the Deluxe uses its charm to provoke envy. It starts with a tender, posterior-friendly seat. The imposing speedometer grafted onto the tank clearly displays the km/h of the ride, something you couldn't care less about on the machine's (rather well-designed) handlebars. The trick is to let the American twin take you along in complete relaxation. Forget about attack! This isn't a Dyna Sport, and the bike's philosophy doesn't really lend itself to that - just like the footrests, which rub in every corner. Too much optimism on the left and the kickstand flirts severely with the pavement, all the while taking care to jostle the bike.
the Softail Deluxe rides smoothly and handles with ease. Handling is good, and can even be effective when winding without brutality. The rear damping doesn't cope well with big irregularities, and the brakes don't really want to work. Unlike the Twin Cam 88B, which still offers torque and power. But we're still a little disappointed, as the big twin doesn't offer much in the way of sensations. Well, it's not yet a Japanese 4-wheeler, far from it, but we expected more. It takes the 400 kg man-machine combination effortlessly over any course, with muscle but no madness. Perhaps it lacks that little something, that little flaw that makes a machine endearing and/or characterful. And yet, the charm never lets go when you get off the bike. Is it her gaze or yours that's most captivating?

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 3 reviews
it's not quite the blue (chopper) I'd ordered, but it's so beautiful...and the delivery date scheduled for the end of August turned into the end of July, to make the most of the summer..
The really low seat makes it easy for me to hold the bike at a standstill, despite my height (1.69m). On the other hand, I feel really deep in the saddle when I'm riding, and I have a bit of trouble finding my position!
perfectly balanced with a very low center of gravity, I'm quickly at ease on small, winding roads, winding up efficiently (when riding custom, of course) on the road
on this nimble bike, despite appearances
maintenance is fairly easy (1h30) with the right products, and the result leaves no one indifferent with its retro bike look and its many original chromes
Where it gets tricky is when it comes to adding matching saddlebags or other original Harley parts, both because of the limited choice for this new model and the prohibitively high price..
For the famous Harley noise, we'll have to wait for the exhaust choice to expand a little, and for the saddlebags, perhaps it would be wiser to settle for a nice leather roll behind the sissy-bar, which will avoid hiding the white-wall tires, which look great..
In conclusion, a fine harley to personalize (a little), to polish (a lot) and to keep for a while to pay off the mandatory accessories that add to the model's already hefty price tag... Rating : 5/5 Respond to jessai
