while the standard Road King takes care of cruising long highways with a less liner-like style than the Electra Glide, its Classic version takes on this mission with a more retro flavour. Even before you get on it, the charm takes effect. Chrome, whitewall tires, a large windshield with no fork head to weigh down the lines, leather panniers (rigid on the standard King) to carry a few items of luggage, a comfortable seat and a devastating look... no doubt about it, you're on one of these road-going vessels that are the pride of America. The wide handlebars, long running boards and large windscreen make for a senatorial ride. For purists who prefer the whip of the wind, it only takes a few moments to remove the windscreen, leaving the superb headlamp cowling and triple-lens facia in full view. The soft ride of the Road King Classic can now be enjoyed with even more cream on the cake: the 1584 has been replaced by the more torquey 1690, as Harley has decided to equip all its Touring models with the Twin Cam 103 for 2011. A block that gives these heavy tourers much greater ease of movement, backed up by 1 mkg and 10 hp more than the 96. Handling has been significantly improved in 2009, thanks to a new chassis adopted by the entire Touring range. 30% more rigidity for a smoother ride. Controlled vibrations, the velvet of cruising and the nostalgic silhouette of the Classic will give you allure without the need to force the pace. By 2008, safety had already been taken up a notch, with a particularly well-integrated ABS now available as standard.

I have 2 of them. One 2014 and one 2015. Same color in 2014 Midnight Blue... An absolute killer in full sun with electric glitter. I sold the 15 and will keep the 14. Impossible to sell... It doesn't flinch! It's imperial everywhere except in town, easy yes but if you're a biker, hin, 370 kgs. What's more... the 103 engine still has 2 valves on the rushmore and you still get the real HD pleasure that makes the pots bang on a little throttle, unlike the 4 valves which have wiped out this sensation... A young biker is bound to crash, it's almost systematic.
So a 350kg motorcycle is not a toy for getting used to. A sportster to get started, and even then, because braking isn't reassuring, especially in town, and the original fitting is a pain... except for the roadster.
