presentation of the CBR 1000 RR Fireblade Limited Edition TT 2010
the Tourist Trophy is one of the most famous (and dangerous) races in the world. However, there aren't many machines that pay tribute to this event. In 2007, Suzuki released limited series of 600, 750 and 1000 GSX-Rs, specially commissioned from the Isle of Man. But if not..
It's Honda's turn. The manufacturer presents a CBR 1000... sorry, 2 CBR 1000 RR Limited Edition TT to celebrate the glory of 2 exceptional riders: John McGuinness and Ian Hutchinson. The latter won a handful of races at the 2010 TT, becoming a legend in his own right and achieving a level of glory close to that of Joey Dunlop. As for McGuinness, his track record is astonishing.
These CBRs are available in 2 colors: the pearl white (Hutchinson model), with a victory crest on the fairing sides and a circuit map drawn from the forkhead through the tank to the seat backrest. The John McGuinness model is painted a subtle black: it evokes a large pint of the famous Irish beer Guinness; the top of the tank and forkhead are painted white/beige to represent foam. The fairing panels feature a circuit layout, the rider's name and his Tourist Trophy average lap speed record of 131.578 mph (equivalent to an average of 211 km/h on a country road, with 264 bends over 60 km and peak speeds in excess of 300 km/h).
These limited-edition CBR 1000 RRs cost £1,000 more than the standard model. For the price, we'd have liked a few extras, like a matching pot or more racing damping. 1,000 pounds? Does that mean...? Yes, it does. That we're talking about bikes for the British market. We're no longer surprised: the GSX-R TT editions did the same to us.
