presentation of the YZF-R1 1000 SP-R Factory Edition 2010
gwen Giabbani has finally given us something to get excited about. Well, almost... To keep up with the champion, whether on the road or the track, you'd have to be pretty damn good. But you can already indulge your endurance dreams with this new R1 SP-R, adorned with a superb replica dress: that of YART, the 2009 Endurance World Champion.
After the GMT 94 replica, Yamaha presents a new special series in the colors of one of its best teams. But with this SP-R, it goes much further. It's not just the fairing that's eye-catching. The racing name is not insignificant, and reminds us of the majestic black and gold R1 SP from 2006, equipped with top-of-the-range Swedish suspension.
this SP-R is of the same blood. It's a well-equipped little jewel, bordering on a racing beast. The 43 mm inverted fork and shock absorber installed here are by Öhlins - the FGT model for the front and the TTX 36 for the rear. This is already enough to sharpen the hypersport's handling and efficiency. Next, a pair of Akrapovic mufflers give the 4-cylinder with cross-plane valve timing a breath of fresh air and voice (and a lot of noise!). With these elements, the bike should lose a good 2 kilos on the scales. A Polytron protection kit looks after the crankcases. And to complete the look, in addition to the Factory Racing trim, the rear end features a seat cover and a racing plate holder. To underline its exceptional character, a specific laser-engraved plate is affixed to the imposing die-cast aluminum beam of the Deltabox frame.
All in all, the price of the R1 rises to 18,499 euros. Given the equipment, there's no theft on the merchandise (racing parts would cost over 10,000 euros if purchased separately). And there won't be enough for everyone. This series is limited to 10 units (but perhaps more if demand is high). If you're only interested in the plumage, an SP version is also available for 15,499 euros, with the same set of parts but without Öhlins suspension. Problem: an R1 SP-R costs almost the same as an RSV4 Factory, also with Öhlins, but with a fabulous V4 and an exceptional chassis.
