presentation of the CBF 900 HORNET 2004

The 600 set the ball rolling, and the 900 follows suit. It uses the same sytlically enticing recipe. High-mounted exhausts flush with the rear hull, large fuel tank and sporty heart.
In terms of looks, it's virile, and very pleasing for street-bike enthusiasts. Mechanically, it's no less than the 4-cylinder of the 900 CBR (model 98) that's installed in this "mono-backbone" frame. A mill full of watts, reworked to increase torque in the mid-range. A few jerks on the throttle change tarnish the picture, without calling into question the full health of the boiler. It's as supple as you want it to be, and accepts to be gently led into sixth gear to cruise like a tourist. A few turns of the throttle, and it pushes hard across the rev counter. Linear in its acceleration, the block nevertheless imposes a certain restraint on the first gears. With the power it delivers, you'll soon be taking the front wheel on a tour of the skies. It spins, it twirls, and the Hornet 900 comes out of the bend like a beautiful devil. Unfortunately, the chassis has a little trouble keeping up with the engine's enthusiasm. The frame (of the same type as the 600) has been strengthened, but the suspension can't cope with the bike's behavior. Overly supple, they fall apart on bumpy roads, while the frame makes a face when riding hard. The slightly understeering front end becomes too light for sporty riding. The mill's great potential can't be fully exploited, even though it itches with every turn of the right wrist.

Honda CBF 900 HORNET 2004 - 1Honda CBF 900 HORNET 2004 - 1

High speed -> high vigilance required. Clearly, the 900 is not for chicks. This lack of rigor aside, the Honda is rather pleasant to ride, with a smooth, precise gearbox and remarkable braking (from Fireblade 96). The riding position has evolved from that of the 600: less leaning, closer to the handlebars, but also slightly higher.
While the price is right, the Hornet 900 has a bad temper. Primarily intended for black jackets, it's seductive in its plasticity, and won't play tricks on you when you're riding sensibly. Just because you've got a hypersport engine doesn't mean you've got to ride like a calu...

Just to specify even while driving very hard in mountain I arrive only at 6 liters thus the 10 liters announced is on track I respect there speed limit before there mountain is for that and especially careful and advises it to the young people and especially less noise is necessary that one is discrete I know I was similar but in 1986 lol now one sees panels along the roads of the inhabitants following the noise of exhaust slt motorcyclist Rating : 5/5

After the 600 Hornet, it's time for the 900, less responsive than its sister, but with more torque and especially for two people. A very good bike; Rating : 5/5

46 ans de 17 année de becanes j'ai possède rsv1000 fazer 1000 zx6r superduke etc et pas mal de moto en prêt ou a l'essai gsxr1000 honda x11 2 modeles .zzr1400 varadero 660ktm etc etc j'ai acheté un 900 hornet guidon street et légèrement rabaisser a l'avant pour éviter de lever tous les 5mn a part ça légere puissante dans les tours manque juste un peu de couple en bas .for the national ring road in town, it's great in the wet, but like many bikes, you have to know your limits and those of your machine, and don't all think you're a pilot.a gsxr is for the track, so if not, it's all-out all the time on the road. there's also a way of crashing at every bend, so don't blame it all on the hornet either, because 2 testers crashed. i love motorcycle magazines, but by dint of titillation, one day it just won't do, because as I say, every bike has its limits, its handling and its feeling, even if they weren't beginners.with all due respect .just keep a cool head with the 900 hornet light and powerful so you don't monkey around with a very good and reliable bike Rating : 4/5

i switched from the 600shadow to the 900 hornet, a real treat, I'm 48 but I'm having the time of my life, super supple, you have to rock it a bit in the corners, great braking, zeus thundering potato, hard rear shock absorber, a bit soft at the front, but very docile if you don't rush it (like a woman loll), very soft in the wet, very cool collar, recommend it to everyone, even beginners. I've got a 2006 900 Hornet, I'm too happy with it, I had a 2005 1200 Bandit, no comparison, it's lighter, livelier, more powerful, it's really a pleasure to ride!

i have a 900 from 2002; I have driven 20,000 kms with it and it is nothing but happiness; really a very good car; not expensive to maintain and above all it puts a smile on your face every time you drive it; certainly not the best car to date but to try it is to adopt it; HAPPINESS........... I've just bought the 900 Hornet, after riding the 600 for 1 year. It's really good to ride a real motorcycle, and I think it's fantastic! It's comfortable, it handles well, it handles well, the braking is great, but above all its engine!
What a treat! It's unbelievably smooth and has just the right amount of power, even when limited to 106 HP. What's most surprising is its docile character, which makes it usable at all times!
Definitely one of the best roadsters around.

I switched to the H900 after 90000 on a CB750. I wanted something a bit hairier. The Bandit 1200, the ZRX 1200 = OK, but at the last minute, finned engines... I can't judge the H900 against the competition (Triumph 1050, Kawa 1000, etc...), so I'll be totally subjective: So the H900: tiny turning radius, in traffic it goes where scooters get stuck. The position = bike, but very high torque = danger in the wet, and very high braking = danger in the wet. That's true, but that's precisely because it's all too easy: a huge potato, it picks up under 2000 rpm and you're back at 160km/h and more, just kidding. The duo is OK. An important detail: the very big SOUND of the two raised pots, a real pleasure at low revs, it sounds like a big cat purring (after that, we've got other things to worry about... let's just say it's the same cat that's had its tail stepped on: it squeaks at a much higher pitch). in the event of a fall, the H900 is very narrow and it's a real pain to get up... But nobody falls in H900, do they? Rating : 5/5
French Francesco Model 2002
i have a 2005 model equipped with the new adjustable suspensions, so you can improve comfort by significantly reducing rear hop-up on poor surfaces. To do this, you need to reduce the rebound damping of the amorto, by a good half turn to one turn, depending on the weight to be carried. In my opinion, the fork is perfect, in normal or "dynamic" use (for sport, I don't know...I don't ride). It's a precise and very maneuverable bike, but it's still sound. You can easily correct trajectories on the corner. It's very playful and really makes you want to ride. A beginner can ride it, if he knows how to stay calm on the throttle at first! Rating : 5/5

I'm over 44, I've ridden a 400 FOUR, a 550 CBF2, a 750 VFR, but with my 900 CBF, I'm still 20 years old and I live with this bike, not to be put in every hand............ Rating : 5/5

well...going from the 600 to the 900 seemed like no surprise. I was just expecting better acceleration, better braking...etc...believe me!!!! it's 300 times better than that!!! it's got a thunderous potato that's nothing like its little sister, the position is much more comfortable, the braking is breathtaking and last but not least, you don't have to stay at 6000 rpm and fire up the ignition to get a sore arm!!! this happens from 3500/4000!!!! I'm on my ass don't hesitate!!!! Rating : 5/5

one more thing! it's true that it hiccups at idle when moving forward! >> but I don't know anyone who drives in 1 or 2 without turning the throttle even a little! moreover, it even picks up at 1200 rpm without flinching! so what's the problem???? Watch out for the kepi! Rating : 5/5

what happiness since June 2002! the H9, it's a ball! you can hook any bike (xjr1300,1200 bandit,...), it's true that it can wiggle in a curve (but be careful to feel the phenomenon you need to be on a degraded curve and around 150/170!) For my part, I ride with a transverse steering damper that I adjust according to the spin, and I must admit that safety is greatly improved! >> handlebar flick (as on all bikes, by the way) nipped in the bud! 6 months ago, I tried a Z1000 and what was my deseption! no torque at the bottom! vibration! head of a scooter madman! an H9 or nothing! i've had a 900 for 7 months now, after owning a 1200 bandit, an 1100 zrx and a few big sportbikes. in my opinion, this machine is perfect for everyday use. it's an all-purpose bike, and its handling and demonic acceleration would delight any biker. I personally replaced the fork springs and rear shock with 600 cbr parts. Sorry, I don't know the exact year, but the diameters and lengths should match (a little longer for the springs). And my dream has come true: my bike is a real joy, with spectacular roadholding and trajectories, nothing like the original. I can now take full advantage of my explosive engine and nothing will make me change my machine. ps the modification doesn't cost very much through this process, but if you're reluctant you can still buy these new parts as adaptables, but the bill won't be the same. Rating : 5/5
French STREETMAN Model 2002
i had a 900 in 2003: the bike rose like a bo devil as soon as you touched the brakes in a curve... annoying, a real catapult in those conditions otherwise the engine is dynamite, especially with one or two teeth in ++ at the rear (crown gear) Rating : 5/5
French Bourdon Model 2002
i've owned a 900 for 1 year, modified as it should be (sabot, carbon pot, radiator grille, wheel arch, kevlar insert etc...) and I wouldn't change my bike for anything. Rating : 5/5
French Bushi Model 2002
I've had it for about 3 months and have covered 3500 km. It's sensational and rides like a bike, there's nothing to complain about apart from the suspension being a bit soft, the engine jerking but only when it's over a bump, gears slamming at first during the break-in period and then calming down to become supple and precise. Otherwise, from 1,500 to 4,000 rpm, it's a pleasure to drive around town, and from 4,000 to 9,500 rpm, it's a joy to drive, but beware of radars. It rips your head off and muscles your shoulders. Personally, I've just modified the riding position, which I find more comfortable with cross handlebars, but that's another story and depends on individual tastes. In conclusion, I highly recommend it, but beginners beware (it's my second after a 600 bandit I kept for 4 years) Rating : 5/5
