presentation of the CBR 500 R 2017
the CB 500 platform allows many young bikers (and not necessarily only them) to discover many facets of motorcycling. Urbanism and easy roadster with the F, crossover with the X and gentle introduction to sport with the R. Too gentle, perhaps, so Honda offers a sharp face-lift. Sharp, as if to mobilize the young troops for a future full of angles and curves swallowed at speed.
she'd like to think she's a racing car, but she wouldn't provoke us otherwise. Sharper lines, a tauter silhouette, sharp eyes, LED headlights and the disappearance of passenger handgrips: the sporty card is reinforced. This evolution is accompanied by a series of small improvements. The fuel tank has been enlarged by one liter, the fork is now adjustable for preload and the brake lever is adjustable for distance (5 positions). More anecdotally, a coded key in automotive format and a hinged fuel filler cap are invited on board. Last but not least, the new muffler refocuses the masses and is 2 kilos lighter, with the added mission of producing a more pleasant sound.
does the 471 cm3 twin take advantage of this to send out a few extra watts? Not at all. The mechanics and chassis remain unchanged - except for 2017, when they were adapted to Euro4. We'd love to see a few more watts, but if this block gave out any more, it would close the doors of the A2 license. And yet, it would fit in perfectly with the CBR 500 R phase 2's sporty look. Honda has also thought about everyday comfort, improving the gear selection mechanism for smoother, easier shifting.
The CBR 500 R will be available in three colors for the French market in 2016: Tricolor, Graphite Black with Candy Energy Orange and Millennium Red.
