presentation of the CB 1000 R 5Four 2021
On the other side of the Channel, motorcycling is given far more space on television than it is here. One of the most popular programs at the moment is " The Motorbike Show ", presented by Henry Cole. Of course, we couldn't care less... What interests us is that one of the show's recurring participants, Guy Willison, gives us his own interpretation of the CB 1000 R.
With a little thoughtful preparation, Guy gives it a slightly more retro look, with a patina of HRC inspiration. Nostalgia makes an appearance with an old version of the Honda logo, hand-painted on the sides of the tank.
A headlight cowling extended by a cap gives the CB 1000 R 5Four much of its personality. But one of the designer's major preoccupations is the streamlined rear end. To achieve this, he removed the swingarm-mounted turn signal bracket, fitted a slim LED light and installed a Growler X titanium Racefit exhaust (laser-engraved with the 5Four logo). As a result, the rear wheel and its monobar feel liberated.
The customization also includes a beautiful embossed-look leather saddle with red stitching, machined LSL mirrors, sports levers with anodized adjustment knobs and a custom-made plate holder. Technically, this machine is in every way similar to a standard CB 1000 R, except that the shifter has been added.
Produced in a limited series, the CB 1000 R 5Four will be issued with a numbered badge and a certificate of authenticity, and for those in the UK it's simple to order from your local Honda dealer. For the rest of us.... Between brexit, limited availability and the whole import mess, it's best to just admire it.
This theme, this dress, this particular aspect of homage to Honda reminds you of something, doesn't it! Indeed, Guy Willison had already created a 5Four special series, with a CB 1100 RS 5Four. Now the expression turns to the big neo-sport-café, with an extension of just over 5,000 pounds.
