presentation of the CBR 500 R 2022

The sports car is a manufacturer's ultimate technological demonstration and weapon. Horsepower while you can, Tony Stark-style electronics, a top-of-the-line chassis, a price tag to choke the banker... and a level of experience big enough to exploit it.

And then there's the CBR 500 R. The bike that takes itself seriously without selling powder kegs. A racy midget with a distinctly pistard feel. It's easy to judge: it wants to tease from an angle. But not by everyone. The insiders, the warriors, the chronos on fire, the Marquezes and the time hunters will prefer the hypersports. If they don't like it, this Honda is as racy as the machines in the hyper-sport segment. It's an unadulterated continuity, with very successful CBR 1000 RR '17-'19 accents.

Its look is as menacing as ever. Accompanied by the same front-end tension. Honda has given it more means to achieve its ambitions with the installation of a 41 mm inverted fork. No adjustments are made, but Showa's SFF-BP technology is used for greater efficiency.
The braking system has also been doubled in size. From a single 320 mm track with axial caliper, the system switches to two 296 mm discs bitten by 4-piston radial clamps. With its weight distribution tilted more towards the front and its more incisive bow, the young CBR intends to support the action and raise the tempo.

Rock 'n roll rather than hard rock. The 471 cm3 twin may have had its mapping revised to improve torque and feel, but it remains reasonably powerful, with 47.5 horsepower at the end of the rods. A perfect measure for A2 riders, who won't need a bridle or spare underpants. On the other hand, if this bike reveals your killer instinct, you'll soon find its breath insufficient. For those who find it to their liking, they'll benefit from a docile and pleasant engine.

Honda CBR 500 R 2022 honda has also turned to a little technical spinning to save weight. The rest of the CBR's evolutions concern the rear shock absorber, with new settings; the headlight, more efficient with new LEDs; and the footrests, now in aluminum.
The LCD instrument panel, steel "Diamond" frame, bracelets under the fork crown, 17.1-liter fuel tank, anti-dribble clutch, bodywork and power ratings (35 kW - 4.5 mkg) remain unchanged. The need was neither expressed nor justified.

There was a time when the world of sports cars could be expressed in so many ways. With 1100 to 1400 cm3 big-bodies, Superbikes with the mythical 750 cm3 displacement, 600 to foisons, 900s, sport-GTs, 250 2-strokes, road sportbikes, pistardes, replicas... And today?
Well, they're either crazy machines, where only the racetrack lets them live. Or they're the latest fashions (RS 660, R7, F3 800), with a price tag that's not exactly typical of young bikers. The CBR 500 R puts the sport at a reasonable price and power level. Today, like yesterday, it must contend with the KTM RC 390, which is slightly less powerful but much lighter.
