presentation of the 750 ZR-7 S 2002
the ZR-7 has put Kawa back firmly in the roadster niche, but without ousting the superiority of the Bandits, Fazer and Hornet. Travelers will opt for the S version, equipped with a graceful, protective fork head. Intended to replace the Zephir, the ZR-7 ensures the continuity of the mid-range in Kawasaki's roadster category. The greens stand out a little from the competition, who judge only by 600's. Positioned right between theER-5 and the ZRX 1100 / 1200, the ZR-7 is equipped with a 750 cm3 engine, for a price similar to that of a Bandit. So much for originality. The engine is old, looking almost 20 years old, and brings that nostalgic touch that you can only feel when admiring the cooling fins. 2 valves per cylinder - that's it, and all the better for it. In addition to its displacement, which makes it more torquey than its rivals, this 4-cylinder engine is much livelier in the mid-range. Acceleration is also enhanced by the K-tric system, which optimizes ignition. In the low and mid-range, whether driving or on power curves, the Kawa is the clear winner.
To accompany this engine, the chassis is up to the task. The machine is easy to handle, the front end precise and the handling enthusiastic... Curves flow naturally and the pace gradually quickens. In addition to supporting your boots, the footrests act as guard rails. Too much angle and it rubs, but you have to be serious about attacking. At this point, be careful on rough roads, as the rear end can become playful, in a bad way. Take it easy. Grab the brakes, which are progressive and powerful. The rear end is more timid.
a leisurely ride reveals the ZR-7's excellent qualities. Slightly leaning forward, the rider sits comfortably and naturally. Getting around town is child's play. The bike isn't excessively heavy, it steers well, and the flexibility of its engine allows you to flirt with the bottom of the rev counter in all gears. Well-equipped, there's a fuel gauge, room for a U under the seat, tie-down hooks, a center stand... But it's a shame that the elegant eccentric chain adjuster has disappeared.
The ZR-7 is a very good deal. Some will find it lacking in charisma, but many will appreciate its simple, playful side.

So to sell it, I was unfortunately and reluctantly obliged to go through the technical inspection, which for me is a sham without a name (thanks to the 3 ecologist associations for the mess they've made, and to this dictatorship of the European Union). The inspection went off without a hitch, except for the pollution test, and there, astonishment, it didn't pass, the maximum percentage of CO is 4%, and my titanium has 7.75% of CO. Fortunately, the inspector, a motorcyclist at heart, managed to make sure that it didn't have to undergo a second inspection, otherwise I would have been entitled to one, which wouldn't have made any difference for the following second inspections, as the inspector explained to me that this was the way the engine was designed and that nothing could be changed. my ZR 7 S is all original, with no changes to the engine or exhaust system, so I was shocked to hear the bad news. Have any bikers had the same misfortune as me? Best regards. Rating : 5/5 Respond to motard58
in short, I bought it new and 20 years later it's still alive :) Rating : 4/5 Respond to capricorn26
there you go, abandoned for no real reason by the motorcycling world, to each his own, but I'm still loving it at 67 years old, friends bikers Rating : 5/5 Respond to capricorn 26
On the downside: the weight and lack of abs can be a problem for a beginner 2-wheeler rider and for reversing, as it's a real beast, and finally there's the rear shock absorber, which is firm but not excessive either Rating : 4/5 Respond to Jeandu76150
Easy maintenance for a mechanic with a bit of experience
114,000 km: two problems, an unsoldered wire on the ignition barrel and a crack in the headlight that I've seen on other zr7s, but as long as it doesn't leak ... Rating : 4/5 Respond to Flipflip
However, there's an error on the website page: the rear tire is not a 180 but a 160. Rating : 5/5 Respond to taz
my blue bought new in 2003, and apart from a good revision (carburation) RAS! ah, si, a bearing of crown (chain) rear, that's all, and always as much pleasure to drive after 13 years of good and loyal service ;) Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
