presentation of the 250 EXC-F 2012
the 250 EXC-F is almost a guarantee of a place on the podium in enduro sport, no matter how tough it may be. The new generation, known for its high power output from very low revs up to 13,000 rpm, comes with an even more powerful DOHC four-stroke engine, new fuel injection, a new starter motor and an even more powerful engine.with an even more powerful DOHC four-stroke engine, new fuel injection, a new electric starter and a completely redesigned, state-of-the-art chassis. The handling of the 250 EXC-F is legendary: for all those who want to be in total control of their motorcycle at all times.
engine
The 250 EXC-F's compact, state-of-the-art four-stroke engine has had its cylinder head completely overhauled, and now boasts a wide rev range and even better performance. Thanks to state-of-the-art engine management with electronic injection and a more powerful generator, as well as a new electric starter, the KTM reaches a level where the competition can only break their teeth.
timing and new intake manifold
The DOHC cylinder head houses four titanium valves actuated by carbon rocker arms. The 250 EXC-F's sophisticated valve train and extremely short stroke allow engine speeds of up to 13,000 rpm. The intake manifold has been further improved to allow 10% more carburation.
new electronic fuel injection / new electronic engine management
The new Keihin Engine Management System with electronic fuel injection ensures spontaneous engine response. An optional "Map Select" selector allows different engine characteristics to be activated.
new muffler
The new muffler on the 250 EXC-F not only has more volume and a new design, it also reduces noise levels to meet future more stringent standards.
new frame
The completely redesigned frame in top-grade chrome-molybdenum steel boasts even greater lateral torsional rigidity. It also provides even better shock absorption, further enhancing the 250 EXC-F's handling and comfort.
new swingarm, new PDS, new tuning
The 250 EXC-F's new, lighter aluminum swingarm houses the shock absorber even more centrally, for better load distribution. The new PDS suspension, 7 mm (0.28 in) longer, with High/Lowspeed rebound and compression damping adjustment, is mounted flatter, offering greater progression.
retuned telescopic forks
The 250 EXC-F features the latest WP upside-down fork, with a wider adjustment range and a new focus. The sensitive response and excellent damping of the open cartridge fork with 48 mm (1.89 in) tubes contribute greatly to the 250 EXC-F's extraordinary handling and precision.
new wheels
The new wheels could hardly be lighter and more stable, with their machined hubs, Excel rims, zinc/nickel-coated spokes and aluminum nipples. This reduces unsprung weight and the gyroscopic effect, contributing to the 250 EXC-F's extraordinary manoeuvrability.
electric starter
The 250 EXC-F is equipped with both a kick and an electric starter. The new electric starter motor is now housed in the generator cover, rather than in the engine crankcase, so that a simple exchange of the cover allows you to switch exclusively to kick starting.
bodywork
The 250 EXC-F's new bodywork, with its slim seat and spoiler lines and excellent contact points, further enhances ergonomics and makes it even easier and more precise to ride. The longer mudguard protects the rider even more effectively against stone chips.
