presentation of the 125 SX 2015
it's been many years since the 125 SX established itself for young people as the ultimate motorcycle and springboard to a professional career. Powered by a high-performance two-stroke engine with exhaust valve and 6-speed gearbox, the 125 SX model year 2015 has been further improved and will continue to win the hearts of young champions.
engine
The engine of the 125 SX 2015 has been upgraded with an optimized ignition curve for more efficient combustion, perfect power delivery and optimal handling.
frame
The modern frame design of SX models in lightweight, high-strength chrome-molybdenum steel profiled tubing combines maximum longitudinal rigidity with optimum rigidity against torsion. On the new 2015 SX frame, a forged and milled cross tube connects the two halves of the frame and the tension rod of the idler mechanism. The absence of welds ensures extremely precise manufacturing tolerances and enhanced safety, while saving 60 grams in weight.
return mechanism / shock absorber
Revamped for the 2015 model year, the shock absorber features a new return mechanism with optimized geometry. A more linear progression with a higher starting rate ensures greater stability while lowering the rear end. What's more, this new design saves a further 40 grams. Fully adjustable, the WP 5018 shock absorber has been perfectly optimized for this new transmission mechanism.
fork
Fully adjustable, WP Suspension's inverted fork has been perfectly matched to the rear shock absorber, as well as to the new 22 mm front axle (up from 26 mm) for the 2015 model year. The new axle provides better front-wheel feel, while also reducing weight by a further 40 grams. The new front wheel axle mountings have an offset of only 33 mm instead of 35 mm, providing greater stability with a higher caster angle. They also include new fork protectors that are 50 grams lighter.
fork tees
High-quality CNC-milled fork crowns have been part of KTM's standard equipment for years. They ensure precise handling and clearly emphasize the bending characteristics and hence the responsiveness of the telescopic fork. The new O-ring support for the lower fork head bearing, a redesigned tube and a new steering head bolt save a further 40 grams.
fairing
The aim of KTM's designers was to create a more ergonomic and functional fairing, so that every detail of the bike is in perfect harmony with the rider. The plastic mouldings of the front mudguard are a model of solidity thanks to their sophisticated structure and fastening.
graphics
A new, more stylish deco kit with clear lines underlines the uncompromising demands of this modern off-road bike.
saddle
Perfectly ergonomic, the saddle features a tough foam core for enhanced comfort and strength.
air box
The airbox design ensures optimum protection of the air filter from dirt, and maximum air flow for enhanced performance. Changing the Twin Air filter in just a few seconds and without tools has long been standard at KTM.
fuel tank
All SX models feature a 7.5-liter fuel tank made of lightweight polyethylene. Four-stroke motocross models feature the same fuel pump system as four-stroke enduro models, allowing optional installation of larger tanks available in the PowerParts catalog or on enduro models.
handlebars
All SX models are equipped with super-strong Renthal Fatbar 827 tapered handlebars, shaped to meet motocross requirements. The tried-and-tested KTM system allows the handlebars to be fixed in a choice of four positions. The 2015 model has been fitted with softer two-component grips to protect the rider's hands.
wheels
When it comes to wheels, the 2015 version features black-coated Excel rims with lightweight CNC-machined hubs and spokes with light aluminum nipples, to ensure maximum stability for minimum weight. The new Dunlop Geomax MX 52 tires have been designed in collaboration with the KTM USA factory team and offer optimum traction and top performance. The new crowns save a further 50 grams on unsprung weight.
brakes
High-tech Brembo brakes have long been standard on KTM off-road bikes, with lightweight Wave disc brakes for optimum braking performance. Best-in-class motocross brakes, they remain unchanged on this 2015 version.
