presentation of the 790 Adventure R 2019
Opening doors... going through arches, deceiving corridors, thwarting dead ends, escaping the return and abolishing monotony. Who wouldn't dream of it once the kickstand is up? KTM has a number of machines in its catalog capable of taking you to lost and distant corners, on roads that have fallen into disrepair, or by design. One of these is the 790 Adventure R, more reasonable than the segment's heavyweights, yet just as eager to hit the trails.
the orange frame has always been an excellent indicator of the quality of KTM bikes. A color that goes hand in hand with the evocative R: spit in the face and send. Based on the standard 790 Adventure, this version intends to go further... or rather, to continue on trails and difficult terrain when its sister says 'stop'. To achieve this, it benefits from a whole range of special features, from the bodywork to the technical parts. We're not here for fun, but for pleasure.
The changes start right away, with a different, higher mudguard, a shorter bubble to clear the view when riding upright, different, higher-mounted mirrors, colored handguards and a more sport-oriented seat. No longer a double seat, but a single element that tapers sharply at the rear. And with the passenger grips and mock-package holder gone, there's every reason to believe that the Katoche isn't looking to add weight to its rear end.

the Adv R has the same 95-hp twin. Borrowed from the 790 Duke, it's deflated in power, refined in torque, and directly bridgable for A2 licenses. It is backed up by several riding modes, including 'Offroad' for off-road riding and Rally mode (standard on the R - optional on the standard) with more traction control settings. Electronics also include a 5-inch TFT screen, corner-active ABS that can be deactivated; this can be complemented by the options of a shifter, cruise control, and the KTM My Ride kit to connect your smartphone and manage your calls, music and navigation options.

The two 790 Adventure bikes share the same fuel tank capacity (20 liters), the same weight (189 kilos), the same braking system (two 320 mm discs with 4-piston radial calipers), and a frame that's virtually identical, but with certain values adapted to the rider's temperament.the caster angle is narrower at 63.7° (64.1° for the std), the headroom has been increased from 107.8 to 110.4 mm, and the wheelbase has been lengthened to 1528 mm (+19 mm).
with the R version of the KTM 790 Adventure, it's time to stop asking questions when you're at the heart of the journey. The kind of machine that prefers to cross a lookout rather than take a detour to find a placid bridge. More expensive, less pleasant for the passenger, but better suspended and more chartered for expeditions, it arrives at just the right moment on a corner of the map that's beginning to quiver.
