from 2008 to 2026R 125 - the first step towards adrenalin.
after the demise of the TZR 125, Yamaha found itself without a small sportbike in its range. Unthinkable for a manufacturer of this stature... Even more so when you have the famous PW in your range, allowing you to start riding just after you've learned to walk.
we had to wait until 2008 for a new 125 to join the ranks of the 3 diapasons. From the outset, the YZF-R 125 seduces with its sharp, taut angles. Like many models of this displacement, it has to resign itself to a 4-stroke engine. Less sharp, less fragile, less polluting, but also less efficient. The Yam has to make do with 15 hp, while the TZR used to produce up to 32 hp.
new version in 2014, with a plusher fairing, a more muscular fork, reinforced brakes and an LCD speedometer.
phase 3 arrives in 2019, with a design closer to that of the R3 and more closely identified with the prestigious R6 and R1 sisters. The engine gains a VVA variable valve timing system and an anti-dribble clutch.
2023 sees it move upmarket. Styling is now copied from the new R7. The instrumentation switches to color TFT with a 5-inch screen and Bluetooth connectivity. Apart from a shorter wheelbase, there are no chassis or engine modifications.
