presentation of the YZF-R 125 2009

ouhla, oulala, stop! You'd think you were dreaming... An R1 '02 silhouette, an R6 '06 pot and swingarm, a pistard face like you wouldn't believe... But it's not fair that young people should have all these advantages with this new YZF-R 125 ;-)

Let's get serious again, and think of all the 125 enthusiasts who are going to love this new Yamaha sportbike. Oh, the 125 sports segment is no stranger to the brand with the 3 tuning forks; far from it. The TZR lineage has made many happy customers over the years.
In 2008, a 125 will bear the noble letters of Yam sport on its fairing: YZF. The machines that have borne this patronymic are these: YZF 750 R, 600 Thundercat, R6, 1000 Thunderace, R1, and the prestigious R7 superbike. The latest addition to the family will be a 125.

It has to be said that the sector is occupied by a highly successful machine: the Honda CBR 125. So, of course, it's not hard to get excited. Yamaha is now entering the 125 replica segment, with its good looks, the strong image of its big sisters, and hopefully at an affordable price.

Yamaha YZF-R 125 2009 - 1Yamaha YZF-R 125 2009 - 1

Aesthetically, there's nothing to complain about, except that it looks great. The design of the little YZF-R is faithful to the philosophy of Yam hypersports: racy, provocative, very tempting.
Mechanically, it's all the same: deltabox frame (steel), aluminum swingarm, double disc brakes (292 mm at the front), 6-speed gearbox, fuel injection, forced-air intake system, modern 124.6 cm3 liquid-cooled, 4 T, 4-valve, single ACT engine, and clean because it's fitted with a dual catalytic converter. Don't worry, if you want to get the most out of this machine, the equipment will follow. The 15 horsepower developed by the single-cylinder Japanese engine will have no trouble playing with the little YZF.

The only hitch is the size of the tires. 100 and 130 mm wide, that's not too much for such a design. That's more than enough to handle the rider's enthusiasm, but... it makes the eye twitch. But when it comes to fun and replica, nothing has been forgotten by Yamaha: sporty half handlebars, R1 2002-style dashboard, LED taillight, double-decker seat, stylish turn signals. The YZF-R 125 isn't just for show.

Playing in the same league as the CBR 125, the YZF will cross swords with it without mercy. Even though it costs 1,000 euros more than the Honda, it could well steal some market share from it. The YZF's outgoing spirit is more pronounced, and with a face like that, it's sure to turn heads. A great fight in store.

My 1st 125, a real pleasure
Great fuel economy and easy handling for beginners
Nervous enough not to get too frustrated with big cubes
Has all the makings of a great bike
Just the seat is a bit stiff

I don't understand why tire size is such a minus?
The rims allow the use of World Motorcycle 3 tires, which are excellent.
Shod like this, while leaving everything original, it's a formidable weapon in terms of roadholding.
Power well and truly lacking.

i've had this bike for about 1 year now, model 2008, about 17000 km on board. very reliable, but expensive to maintain. consumes nothing, but in corners it's very hard to keep up. I don't see how anyone can say that it's a tank compared to the ktm, you just have to have it in your hand. otherwise it's a good compromise for those who are fans of sport bikes! you have to like the tape cue ;) Rating : 4/5

sporty, yes, but not so good on the road: too light, especially when passing a semi, on the freeway to be avoided, as being overtaken by vehicles at 130kh makes you move a lot. And a pain in the ass because the seat is too thin Rating : 1/5

I had it before I got my big cube license, it looked great and flattering, many motorcyclists asked me about it, but I don't agree on the fuel consumption: it consumed more 3 l than 4 l. I've never seen an engine that doesn't guzzle so much power, after all, it's a 125cc, so it's easy to handle, but when overtaking, it's better to ask the right questions twice before doing so, it handles like a real bike (but it's sporty, so it's great for bends, but not for making a half-lap), and on the negative side, the gearbox is sticky and neutral is sometimes hard to find. max speed 125 km. If it hasn't already been said by the owners of this bike, which I've had the pleasure of trying out twice, it's an excellent bike that doesn't get tiring, despite what people say, as soon as you increase the speed a little. In fact, as soon as you start to get a bit of air on your shoulders (around 70km/h), your wrists take a load off, which makes it an excellent tourer, but not such a good city bike. It's true that the Cbr or the Roadsport will be more at home in this respect. The price is partly justified by an irreproachable chassis, and components and finish that are a cut above the rest. I just bought it. With a leovince pot it sounds like a big cube. When we start the bike everyone looks at us. LOL. I'm a biker who's already had a big cube and I find the braking too good for a 125. Of course the performance of a big cube is better. But for a 125 it's very good and safe. Rating : 5/5

i think it rides well for a 125

to put it simply, a magnificent, well-equipped motorcycle, a sporty but very aggressive machine, for 1000 euros more than a cbr, you can see the difference in quality and aesthetics, and above all, it's more economical with its 4t in consumption and maintenance. happy trails to all ..... And watch out for speed cameras ... Rating : 5/5

i can see that people are spitting on the 4T here... so I'm going to add my two cents... except that now it's not a two cents but a two cents..

you want power? fine... how many NSR TZRs and TDRs have been scrapped because of felés? tell me about a 4T that doesn't make a moped noise...
the YZF is beautiful, pleasant to look at, and always more powerful than my crapaudiere (a 125 SR), and at least I'll be moving forward a bit more..

i'm going to buy it second-hand, that's it!

Hello everyone
Superb bike in terms of looks, very good range, and good performance for a 4T
But I would just like to say to "the punish" more moderately, I own a TDR 125 YAMAHA (2T) and I can say that at speed level there is not a single 4T that can compete, especially when you ride two
Otherwise, I think Yamaha has done very well
A+

I've ridden some big cube bikes and this little 125, and it gives you a very good feeling. The engine noise is a bit heavy after 200km, and you have to be used to the sporty position, because after an hour it hurts your Q and your back! But this bike will take you a long way! Rating : 5/5

I think this bike is simply magnificent
It's got a sharp look that makes you want to ride it and take it for a spin. :P

It's true that if you're a teenager, it's hard to get hold of this marvel

On a personal note, I've just turned 16, and I'm going to do everything I can to pass my A1 driving test with as little cash as possible, and just after that, buy myself this marvel. =)

In any case, I can put my hand on fire that, as soon as I get it, my first move will be to spend a full tank or two on driving to my heart's content. ^^

On that note, all the best. =)

Okura.

this bike is extremely reliable and as far as fuel consumption is concerned, it does a lot of kms on a full tank. on the other hand, it's a pain in the butt all the same ^^^and for the passenger even more^^. it's even more beautiful with the aeromax options, but it's still expensive. personally, i've bought almost everything^^ as far as performance is concerned, i'm not complaining, the engine is a bit hollow, but it's not an r1 either^^
you need to be between 8000 rpm and 10000 to get a good feeling
a little advice for running-in: always take a passenger with you^^ and accelerate hard on climbs... the engine will get used to the greater weight, and when you're on your own, it'll be a real bomb...

slt I'm 40 and I've just bought my wife this bike in place of her cbr, and believe me, in terms of dashboard, lights, and above all looks, it's something else than the competition (in 4 or 2-stroke) and if it's not a "bomb", it's not the goal to look for, especially in 125 we ride, not race, and it's dangerous enough as it is. As for these 2-stroke breles, given the noise they make and the smell, even if they're faster, there's no risk of them being mistaken for motorcycles. I don't want them, even for free, and I'm not talking about the behavior of some of their pseudo-drivers. At first glance, you can see what you're dealing with! Rating : 5/5

I've got this little bike and I can tell you it's superb!!! sporty, flexible, reliable, more than reasonable fuel consumption and a killer head! Goodbye 2t crap that costs a kidney every 20 hours, it will only be good for pretentious and jealous losers (well for the track/compet. Who have the use)... What's more, with 2 or 3 Leovince or Devil line-style modifications, it'll have nothing to envy the 2t, especially if you have the means to re-set the mapping. If you want to treat yourself, don't hesitate any longer. Rating : 5/5
French nikitasds Model 2008
It's 3990 euros all taxes included, and at top speed it goes 125kmh, not bad for a 125, and considering the speed cameras, that's enough. It's much bigger than the honda cbr 125, and it consumes less fuel, with a range of 394km on a full tank. What's more, it has an important feature that's rarely found on big bikes: a full tank display, so you know when to go to the petrol station. I'll tell you more about it very soon, as it's going to be mine. Rating : 5/5

Hello to all motorcyclists, because I think that at the controls of this 125 cc you can believe and make believe that you're riding a big bike!
The only downside is that the power is in line with legislation! It could do with another 15bhp in complete safety, because with such precise handling and such quality, you wouldn't be taking any risks
Well, without that, it's superb and a pleasure to drive !!!!
Good driving to all and take care!

Personally, being young and the owner of a brand-new 125 license, I'm looking for a nice high-performance bike to fill the gap left by my old bike (a Rieju RS2 Naked); and from what those who've ridden it seem to be saying, the YZF is perfect for me :)

Of course it's beautiful, but for the price, it's better to get a big cube license and buy a ppr motorcycle. On the road it's 4t so you always have to push it to be able to go a bit fast (not too fast either). I don't think it'll really be a hit, but it's very pretty all the same

As far as I'm concerned, I'm 43 years old, I've had a HONDA 125CBR, and I've enjoyed it, the 125 is enough to kill yourself, you can't ride any more at the risk of losing points and your license, so a machine that goes up to 115 or 120, that's quite enough, the insurance is very affordable, and if you have a car, the 125 is a very good way of riding around town without getting sweaty in traffic jams....for touring it's the feet, affordable and economical maintenance (the price of fuel being unaffordable), this bike is superb, YAMAHA is like HONDA, it's high-performance, for my part I'm certainly going to fall for this machine, the CBR looks too much like a moped, and I have no desire to take the motorcycle license... hi rapha,

of course you have to ask yourself the question of the clientele...and once again, as a motorcycle mechanic, I know for a fact (me!) that a young person doesn't have 4000euros to spend on a 125 knowing that he'll have to pay for his licence two years later

and yes, the 125 is accessible from the age of 16, but the majority of those who ride a 125 are over 40...! yes, I assure you, for me this moped will be a total flop... even yamaha must suspect this, because on the plasma screen of the store where they show the new models, there's the R1, the R6, the XJR, the 125YBR... etc., but I never heard of the 125YZF until a few weeks ago..

who are these idiots who can only say bad things about this bike it's su rque if we're talking about price it's expensive compared to a used 750 but it's a 125 so no 2-wheeler license big displacement moreover this bike isn't aimed at an older public; it's made for a young person who wants to have a bike that resembles the bike of his dreams (r1), so in terms of performance, it's not going to be a crazy bike, but for a young person who wants to get into motorcycling, it's going to be a great way to get his first taste of it this bike is made for a young person of 16 years old and that's what's written on the page, so all those who think they know everything and who are the best at everything need to ask themselves who this bike is for and then everything becomes clearer, so all the young people who want their first bike, this one will be very good for your first sensations. peace Rating : 5/5

yes, but perhaps you're forgetting that this yamaha will be fitted with a brand-new engine, ensuring reliability and durability! not to mention that it will be designed to meet the demands of a sports bike, i.e. a very competitive one! but let's not forget that it's a 125, so it's normal that its engine is smaller than on an r1 or r6.You're just forgetting that some people are passionate about sports bikes, but don't want the performance of a monster of power, and that some others can't afford the cost of supersport insurance for a large-displacement bike, which is why it would be a good idea to buy this 125! combining looks and reliability, I don't see any drawbacks! This bike's a piece of shit, I saw it at the 2-wheel show...
With a fairing that's 2 times the width of the engine (it's great to see when you're 3-4 meters away, but as soon as you get closer you see huge holes between the fairing and the engine), with a seat that looks like a "prototype" (or unfinished) and super difficult to mount (the rear is extremely high) and a very sporty riding position not at all suited to its 125 4T engine, which is made more for a utility bike than a sport bike..
True, it has wider tires than the CBR, but apart from that, it's not worth the detour....
I forgot to mention that the controls are very hard compared to the CBR..

it's true that it's very beautiful for a 125
but then again, 1000 euros more than the cbr, for as much power, and a heavier bike ... so performance is probably slightly lower, or at least the same ... you've really got to have your mom and dad behind you, and want to make a cakewalk out of high school.

Ses performances ?
French aurelioen Model 2008
splendid!!!
it's clear that with my varadero it would change me into a pleasure
who can tell me the performance it offers?
to be seen, its price would be under 4000 euros, that's cool for a sports car with such a finish

It's gorgeous, it's on display at the 2-wheeler world show in Versailles, and I got on it, it looks like anything but a 125! Too good ! Rating : 5/5

another one who spits on the 4t....I have a cbr 125 and I can say that I have a lot of fun with it and it's enough to scare you! the new yamaha is very beautiful and the pot bin.... sé ecolo and they will all end up like that! and in terms of fuel consumption it will be far from the rs or the tzr that kevin praises...long live the clean and carefree 4t! hoping it will be accessible to the student budget! How dare you like it? Just flashy, I'll give you that. Shitty catalytic converter, just to meet the standards of my balls. For Euro 8 standards, the catalytic converter will hide the rear wheel because it will be so huge.
15 cv , c'est rien , chacun , je sais , doit y trouver son compte en moto , mais de la dire qu'on s'amuse avec ça ... The 4-stroke is not made for low-displacement bikes. Instead of spending 3700€ to drag your ass buy an Rs 125 or a Tzr 125 d'occaz in good condition and it works 2 times better than that ! Big time !!! 2 times guys! You really have no knowledge to assert that these bikes are good!
Anyway, I'm going back to my Rs 250 2-stroke, which gives me incomparable sensations!

very nice bike in my opinion I find it quite well finished and quite compact on the other hand I do not like too much the fork and the kind of arm which will serve to hold the plate it remains only to know the performance and this bike will be in my opinion the best 125 cc 2008 4T I'll probably buy and I tell you that after lol

I saw it advertised at 3700€ in "moto journal"
It's splendid and magnificent: my cbr would almost look like a basic bike next to it! I have to admit that Yam' did a great job on this one... and the muffler in the low position... huummm... All that's missing is some super performance and it would be the best sports bike for me. The passenger will still have a pain in the ***. The manufacturers just can't manage to combine sportiness and comfort...and that's a shame.
Come on yam' gentlemen, a little more effort on the price and I bet this 125 will have a career just as good, if not better than my cbr, which I'm keeping anyway...

oulala! serieu it's starting to heat up for motorcycle manufacturers! they're seriously attacking the 125cc market! and so much the worse for small-displacement bikers!!! i own an aprilia classic, it's coming along nicely but as i'm a sports bike lover i'm thinking of saving up in order to afford this jewel! let's just hope it's under the 4,000 euro mark.
